I'm flat after removing infected implants. Now, I'm on a list P.I.N.K Personal Ink to get free chest tattoos! Can't wait!

Very exciting. Congratulations. I had a terrible infection after my mastectomy and had to have my tissue expander removed. (Never made it to the implant stage.) A little more than a year after the surgery, I got a tattoo. I felt totally transformed It made me feel so wonderful, like I had a beautiful secret underneath. I wrote about it for Ravishly. Here's the link: ravishly.com/2015/02/04/wak... You can see pictures of it there too.

Great article, So nice! I can't wait to do mine. Have to wait until Oct, though.

Thank you for your kind words about my essay! How long has it been since your surgery? I had to wait at least a year so that the scar healed properly and had a chance to flatten. Just think that you are creating a better "canvas" for the artist to work upon the longer you wait.

PINK said I have to wait 1-yr to 18 mos before tattooing breast area, plus they require doctor clearance. So, I really have to wait until Oct. My mastectomy & expanders surgery was July 2015. Implants done in Oct 2015, but implant removal was June & August 2016.

Yes, tattoo artists like you to wait at least a year so the healing is complete. October 2017 sounds about right. I didn't get my surgeon's clearance, but he was pleasantly pleased when he saw my tattoo--none of his patients had ever gotten one--and he loved it. I know you'll be very happy with yours and it will be worth the wait!
