Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy

Good evening folks, not sure if this is the correct area to put this in, but here goes anyway.....

I was recently diagnosed with Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, and I Got some results today, left ventricle 19% and right 29% ejection fraction. So not great but that’s without medication, so hoping the new medication I will go onto will help that, I was also told I was being referred for the defibrillator implant thing.

The strange thing is I don’t feel unwell at all, I was very sick in hospital in November and told I need a transplant, but being type 1 diabetic, I’m not able to go on the list.

My worry is that I’m 35 with a 4 year old girl and getting married in 8 weeks, what kind of life will I be able to give my family?

How long will I be around for them.

It’s the unknown that’s bothering me.

Thank you.

Hi, hope you are well? Without writing a ten page reply, I have had similar problems since I was a young man. I put off having children and got to 47 and said, I'll be a late starter. My son is now coming 16, I'm 62, hitting 63! For some reason these conditions are very unpredictable ans thr holy grail of cardiology There are many more trearments available now since I was 35. My advise be torturous and proactive with your trearment and heed your body's advice. Hope you have a long and happy marriage. Good wishes
