On Boxing Day I got the biggest shock of my life when I had a heart attack! I was staying with my daughter in Nottingham and thanks to the brilliant staff in the hospitals I hopefully will be going home today ! I still don't think it's really sunk in and I am def really tearful but looking forward to going home

I didn't want to go home as I felt un-safe outside hospital so well done!! What treatment did you receive? ?? Yes it's a shock and the worry of a repeat is quite stressful. .. my attack was in October, had a Stent fitted and I'm just about forgetting about it.... had to Have complete lifestyle changes so just got a dog to help with exercise. .. surprisingly this has been better than any discussions or drugs!!! I would recommend it!!

I was forced out a day later after MI cardiac arrest revived with angioplasty by Security because refused to go home as single & solo with noone there - 14 yrs ago .I have such severe dysponea [ breathing] my Function has almost gone yet noone wants to know about it except to Target me out of Employment 1996 , so cannot access Integrated [ social] services . Even private Telecare will regard you as a risk & send out ambulance willy nilly rather than follow agreed procedures, as my problems is also being roused when acute utis ignored .It is now being agreed my problems are possibly microvascular so not showing up on Tests eg PAH Pulmonary Hypertention .This enables the Medics to not take on as Insurance companies will be directing them .Does NHS want to know ? Surely they are not colluding !

Let us know how it goes over the weeks. Ask if you have concerns. We are not doctors but we have been there.

Hi, I know how you feel. I had a major heart attack in late September. A huge shock and I still can't really believe it. But I've done tons of research and the keys to living longer seem to be Medication, Positive Attitude, Diet and Exercise. The most important is probably Exercise. I now walk 3 miles every day. I built up to this in small steps. At first I could only walk 20 yards. So hang in there - things really do get better.

Hi, so sorry to hear what happened to you...I expect it was a huge shock to everyone else as well 😕 It is the emotional shock that surprised me more than anything. My h/a happened whilst I was asleep in my bed...it took weeks before I could get to sleep in that room. My doctor told me I had ptsd, it gets better, slowly....but it does, honestly. I hadn't had a day off sick in 9 years and 11 months until my 'dodgy ticker incident ', since then I've had tennis elbow (which frightened the life out of me cos I thought 'ahhhh pins n needles in my arm') heartburn almost continually, skin rashes, every cold I could possibly pick up and a dry cough. Some of these are side effects of the drugs, which I still have to sort out...but all in good time. My attack was in October and I'm in rehab now and I started a phased return to work after 8 weeks. I've just bought a treadmill (so I can walk even when the weather would've convinced me not to) . I still get moments of panic and I cry too easily, but I survived a life changing event....you did too! Everyone tells me my heart is being looked after better now than 11 weeks ago...that's what you have to believe too. Little steps, onwards and upwards...good luck 😊
