Hi lisahlashez

Yes, I was eventually prescribed Ropinirole and I did find that it made life slightly more bearable for a while. Unfortunately the body soon gets used to that medication and the effects lessen, plus it does lead to what is called augmentation in that the symptoms start to appear in the daytime. I am now taking a tablet called Mirapexine plus I wear a Neupro patch. I have read on this forum that several people take Ropinirole for a while, and then change to Mirapexine and keep swapping one to the other. What you will find is that the usual medications taken for RLS affect people in many different ways and it becomes very much trial and error. Best of luck anyway.

I got mirapexin for my RLS. For me it works but cannot guarantee it will work for you. Trial and error is the orm in neuro syndromes. If you are having probs re meds pester your neuro. Combine your experiences to get you ona flat calm.

Hi Mirapexin + Gabapentin + opiate based painkillers. Keep trying and recording your results.

I agree with Drew, trial and error is the answer and remember you may not get full relief from RLS so its finding the one / combination that works 'best' for you.

PS: when you do find a solution then post it please, it may help someone, plus your story may give others the extra push they need to find their result!?

Yes, I had augmentation with Ropinirole, although for the first few months of taking it it was a miracle drug for me. The augmentation got extremely bad, and I had no choice but to come off it and try something else. I had nop life, but it took me a while to realise that it was augmentation and not my RLS getting worse. Try to manage on the lowest dosage you possibly can for as long as you can. Hard I know, but augmentation is terrible. Good luck, and if Ropinirole isn't suitable for you then there are other meds to try. This is an awful illness.

Ropinerole helped me for about a year but I had to increase dosage to keep it effective. In the end I was having too many side effects (itching, drousiness, fatigue from lack of sleep, etc.) that the cure became worse than RLS. Now am on Carbidopa-Levo ER (25/100mg) which took me a long time to find best hours to take it twice a day but it is now working. Ropinerole may work for you better than for me. All these medicines work differently for different people. Carbidopa-Levo is the third medicine I've used for RLS. I do take Clonazepam once a day with Carbidopa-Levo. I wish could get by without this one that works, but I simply cannot. RLS is not really the problem for me but the lack of sleep I had was genuine torture. RLS was the medical problem but lack of sleep as torture far worse. For several weeks the longest I slept was four hours one afternoon. I can now sleep through the night for eight hours at times, and can take naps even in the daytime. When Ropinerolde finally was giving me more problems than not, I could not even nap. Good luck on Ropinerole. May it work better for you.
