I wrote to my GP today, enclosing information about pramipexole and its role / side effects in the treatment of restless legs.

This is the reply.

“ I can confirm receipt of your correspondence. I am sorry you have suffered unpleasant side effects. I would be most interested to see the information you refer to. I have looked up the CKS guidelines for restless legs which were updated in July 2022 and pramipexole is still listed as a first line treatment.

If you have links then please feel free to attach them to a response. If this is a learning point for the clinicians involved I will most certainly act upon it.”

I have responded and included all the relevant links which I found on here.

I live in the UK and sent some papers to my doctor about pramipexole and got a grovelling apology for prescribing them. I take three 0.088mg a day. I don't sleep and manage on one oxycontin a week to give me respite. I can't take gabapentin. I hope you get some help.

It is great that he is willing to look at what you send him. I assume you sent him the Mayor Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS which is up to date unlike the CKS guidelines.
