Mirapexin Prolonged-Release

I am back on the DA's. I have now been on Prolonged-Release Mirapexin (0.26mg) since 1st April and have been more or less RLS-free ever since! I hardly dare to say it. Before that I was on 1200 mg Gabapentin which did not work very well as I had to complement with Co-Dydramol every night. And before that I was for years on Pramiprexole and later on the Rotigotine Neupropatch. It was also discovered the Gabapentin was not good for my eyesight so my Neurologist suggested PR Mirapexin and helped me to taper down the Gabapentin by 300 mg every two weeks. Since last week I am now completely off the Gabapentin and just take my one little PR Mirapexin every night. (I am also still on 0.5 mg of Clonazepam to help with my sleep). I am very careful taking it every night on the dot of 8 pm. Sticking to that will hopefully prevent Augmentation. It is early days yet but so far it works for me and I am having the most amazing RLS free Lockdown.

Hi Felicity, I'm glad that you've found some respite from your RLS. In effect, it sounds like you have undertaken a drug holiday i.e. not taken the pramipexole for a while then gone back on to it. Why did you go off pramipexole and the patch before? If it was augmentation, then you may well get it again. I wish you all the best though.

That is great news!👏

Long may it last!!

Great to hear you've got some respite from your symptoms. :-)

Hi Felicity21. It appears you have a question regarding the use to Rotigotine contained in Neupro patches. I was recommended them several years ago and have used a 4mg patch every day since. For me they work to an extent but they are not a cure for RLS but certainly help me. If I have a really bad night and walk around all night I can generally trace it to the fact that I forgot to change the patch in the morning. I can also confirm that, again for me, I have experienced no side effects.

As an aside I also take Codeine at about 5.00pm and again at about 10.00pm which again is beneficial although not a cure.

Best of luck anyway. If you want any further information then don't hesitate to ask.
