Can RLS be a separate condition? The way it's portrayed in the Channel 5 documentaries makes it look like it's a condition on its own. I didn't know it could exist as a separate condition.
I have RLS as a symptom of fibromyalgia/ME. For me, it feels like someone has attached electrodes to my hips and big toes and is running an electrical current through my legs. I feel like I have an electrical charge building in my muscles, and have to keep kicking to relieve the discomfort.
I have found a massive dose of magnesium every day helps tremendously, but have to take it continuously. There are different types being sold online, and I don't know if one works better than another. When you start taking it, it takes around two weeks to build up in the body before you start to notice a difference. I take 1.5 grams daily, and have done so for several years now. When I have stopped taking it to see if I still need it, the symptoms come back.
Perhaps try a trial of at least three months, to see if it works for you?
As a result, I rarely have an attack any more. If I've pushed myself too hard and am especially fatigued, I can feel it trying to happen - the leg muscles start to tingle and I can feel my muscles tighten - but it doesn't develop fully and is bearable.
I know this won't help everyone, but maybe this can help some people?
