Hi

My RLS became much worse during my menopause. You need to tell us a little bit more about yourself. Are you taking anything at the moment and what are you doing to cope?

You could start by reading the following -

rls-uk.org/self-management/

rls-uk.org/treatment/

There are treatments out there that work, it’s just a case of finding the right one.

Pam

Hi Kntony1830, can I ask a few questions:

Are you using anything to treat your RLS at present, (have you ever used anything)?

Are you on any other medications, including over the counter and occasional ones?

How long has this been going on and has it got any worse?

There are LOADS of options open today to you. Pain wise from doctors you can get a wide variety of opiates. You can have dopamine agonist drugs - some anti-epileptic ones work too.

You can alter your diet and take supplements - many of us use gentle iron with good results. People find avoiding alcohol, sugar or sweeteners brings great relief.

There are those using drugs that could be making things worse - many antidepressants and antihistamines are as bad for RLS sufferers as garlic is for vampires!

Online you can buy Kratom, (which isn't legal everywhere) and on the street or in your garden ;) you can find cannabis which for some is quite good although the legal issues are a worry for many.

There are yoga stretches which help, hot baths/showers, massage and compression stockings or weighted blankets.

Take a look at this for some ideas:

We are so lucky today with treatment options - for most of my life the closest I got to treatment was to get drunk enough to pass out!

Ditto everything Pam and Raffs have said/asked. Spend some time reading the last 2 weeks of posts and replies and the websites for RLS UK and the US rls foundation and the links Raffs has sent.

Doctors really don’t know enough ( if anything) about this condition so we have to educate ourselves.

We can help point you in the right direction after you tell us a little more information about you and your meds history.
