Magnesium Glycinate

Hi. I'm new here but wanted to share my recent experience with supplements as far as RLS goes. Someone recommended "gentle iron," so I bought some on Amazon and have been taking one capsule per day in the morning. That didn't have any impact on the RLS, so I began taking Magnesium Glycinate, which is another suggestion I'd read here on this forum. For the past week, I've been taking 3 capsules per day, about 2 hours before bedtime. In the past week I've only had RLS one night! Previously I'd been taking 1/2 of a hydrocodone tablet (the lowest dose) at night, which made me sleepy enough to fall asleep in spite of the RLS. But I've been concerned about taking the hydrocodone (aka vicodin) because of the addiction potential.

If in fact it's the magnesium glycinate that's working, it's a wonderful godsend!! Note, it MUST be the glycinate form, not the oxide form. I found it at a healthy foods co-op but it could also probably be found online. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue to work. RLS has been a nightmare (well, a wide awake one) for me for a long time. Best wishes to everyone dealing with this frustrating and painful issue.

You say you take three capsules - how many mg each?

Hi, I found that the gentle iron only works for me if taken before bed on an empty stomach. Might be best to start with two of the capsules of iron. Congrats on the magnesium.

Can you tell me how much magnesium glycinate you take per capsule? Too much magnesium can cause insomnia, so I shied away from it - but it sounds like you’re doing well.

I’ve just started bisglicinate iron, too soon to tell if it’s helping yet, and I’m not sure how much I should take. Seeing my Dr. Friday.
