My mum has found a product called Migraine Stop to be really helpful for her restless legs which are now bearable whereas before taking Migraine Stop they would Drive her mad. I just think everyone should know that such a product exists because my mum's quality of life is now so much better.

He brother in Australia told her about it. The product isn't manufactured in New Zealand or Australia and is sold in their dollars which, if your purchase 3 tubs you get one free and it costs about £70 which lasts 3 months. It's designed for migraine sufferers but the company are scientists and have found that it works for Restless legs. They have recently set up a place in the UK from which they can despatch product to the UK.

I'm sharing this in case anyone has not come across this product.

I looked it up. It is a magnesium product, something that has helped lots of people with RLS. Glad it worked for your mother!

yes, but my mum was already spraying magnesium oil onto her skin without discernable improvement. Somehow the additions to the Migrain stop product help the magnesium to reach the muscles. So people who don't benefit from magnesium tablets or oil, should not be put off trying this. Nothing else has helped mum so significantly. Its still not a cure for her but life is so much better for her.

Glad it helped your mum.

I bought it from NZ and used it for 3 months but sadly did nothing for me. However, magnesium seems to help a lot of people so thanks for sharing.

Bless you for sharing this! There is apparently a connection between migraine and RLS; does your mum have migraine problems or just trying the meds to stop RLS I wonder. Im in the UK and have augmentation thats spread to my good arm, so very grateful to you for telling me about this med. Doubt its on prescription on NHS but no matter! Best wishes so glad it helps your mum. Sleek Cat.

mum has never had migraine but it was recommended by our family in Australia for her restless legs. We first purchased it from New Zealand but the Co have since set up a UK distribution.

Interesting! I’ve heard of this before, but have never thought about using it in connection with RLS. I will look it up, so thank you!

Hi..

Thank you for that..

Migraine stop..not heard of it but I'll search it out.

My problem legs started about 5 months ago out of the blue..I tried loads of things including amino acids .. magnesium.(. tablets and spray) etc etc

I was trying to cure myself the natural way.I didn't want to start taking pramozole which I was at first given.

There must be a cause I thought..

Dopamine levels low probably..a neurological disorder.?

At last a GP suggested blood test.. which showed low ferritin..(stored iron for the brain)

Ferrous sulphate was prescribed which gave me an upset stomach..now trying ferrous gluconate....I've halved the dose myself and it seems to have done the trick..but early days yet.

It's interesting to think that migraine stop works.. because the problem is in the brain I think and maybe a similar connection.?

Hope you're mum finds the answer.

Best wishes

Jan

The blood/brain barrier that Migraine stop helps with for migrain sufferers may not be what helps restless leg sufferers, but it certainly seems to get through the digestive system and through the blood to the leg muscles. I'm not sure the suppliers understand how it works for legs; but they are probably working to understand it. You could write and ask.

Thanks for your comments on my mum

best wishes

Hi Jan,

fingers crossed that raising serum ferritin works for you. Many people on here use iron bisglycinate which is also known as gentle iron (stocked in Holland and Barret). It seems to be more easily tolerated.

It is optimal to take iron on an empty stomach and not eat for an hour after taking it. It is also important to take it with vitamin C (unless taking iron bisglycinate when it isn’t required).

Btw it can be useful to get the actual figure for your serum ferritin - not just the blanket ‘normal’ or ‘low’. Rls experts now suggest getting levels to over 100. Iv iron infusions are also now used to treat the condition - often with excellent results. These seem to aim to get levels to over 300.

Good luck.

Hi Kirklasu..

Thank you for that information..

It's very interesting..

I just can't go on using the tablets from docs.. upsetting my stomach too much even on half a dose..

I wonder if He and B iron is strong enough.?

I wonder if I can get Spatone or floradix on prescription?

It's either very restless legs or bad stomach at the moment.!

Thank you again.

Jan

There is a large body of anecdotal evidence from regular posters on here that suggests the iron bisglycinate is effective for raising iron levels (as effective as any oral iron preparation). It is also easier on the stomach than other iron formulations. I would definitely give it a try if I was in your shoes. Very few posters use floradix to raise serum ferritin.

Thank you very much..

It's good job we have help on this forum.. doctors don't seem to be interested in the cause of the problem..

I'm going to eat more marmite.. also get some "migraine stop" and iron bisgycinate..

Something must help..

I've been eating liver but it doesn't seem to help much.

Thank you.

It can take a while for the benefits to take hold. It will most likely be a very gradual process.

I wish you all the very best. Keep talking and sharing your results with each other. I bet you figure it out before the experts!
