Hello. What’s up? I’m having trouble tonight as well.

Try these gentle stretching exercises halfway down this site:

healthline.com/health/restl...

You can also try putting your legs in cold water.

I feel like I could pull my hair out!! 🤪

Yep, I know that feeling all too well.

Really sucks big time!

I’m about to try lying down again, so I will sign off now. Will you be okay?

in reply to

Yes! I’m going to do the same. Thank you so very much for responding to me...🙂

in reply to

Well, my 2nd attempt at sleep didn’t last long. I’ll probably get a real chance at sleep once the sun comes up more. You’re welcome!

in reply to

I’m up again! I’ve had around 3 hours sleep and I will have to get in the shower around 5:00 to get ready to work a 12 hour shift! Faith will have to see me through as I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck!! 🚛

in reply to

At least you got 3 hours! That’s great! Good luck at work!

in reply to

Thank you! Good luck with sleeping this morning!

Next time, and there will be a next time. Get up and walk around for awhile, for me it's close to 30 minutes doing light chores in soft light. Then I take a durable icepack in a pillow case and that gives me an hour and a half to 3 hours sleep. usually the 1 and 1/2. The ice is for when I wake up and most of the time I put it on the restless leg and go back to sleep works 3 out of 4 times. otherwise there is nothing but walking.

in reply to BoldMove

Thank you 🙂 I need to try the ice pack...I think that would feel so good as I sweat all day at work! Walking helps me too. I just got 6 straight hours of sleep tonight! I think pure exhaustion helped!

I know for me the more I've been on my feet during the day the worse my RLS acts up that night.

in reply to LanaCSR

Yes!! I’m finding this to be true for me also. There’s no getting around this with my new job...I’m hoping that once my stamina improves that it will balance out...who knows? Not me!! 🙂

Glad I could help. I've not had 6 hours of straight sleep in years, but don't fear, you are still young, even without RLS, people in their 70s don't sleep as well.

Another site, RLS Foundation, says to get in 30 minutes walking daily as good circulation helps.

This RLS stuff really sucks. It truly does. Do you take anything for it?

in reply to JLBS

Yes, I’m on a too high dose of Mirapex at 1mg at bedtime. I was also on 1mg every morning and have weaned myself off of that morning dose...

Sorry GratitudeFirst only just seen your message. It’s a toughy to answer really. As you’ll be more than well aware!! We all have differing symptoms and our own methods of dealing with them. But....there are, as you are experiencing just now, those occasions when desperation ensues as these methods we use, fail us.

It then mostly comes around to the support system. Spouses, family, friends, GP’s, Neurologists etc, and of course MEDICATION!!

And then there’s us, fellow sufferers. The hints, tips, advice etc we give very often we find one that helps, but there’s always, always, someone on any of the many RLS groups, at any time, to chat too for “our” support 24/7. And although that’s basically all we can! do, it’s so helpful....”Sharing to care”.

I’m eternally grateful to the friends I have and made by just knowing they are there.....talking is in itself a life saver on occasion, as I know from personal experience.....from both sides of the issues when the severity symptoms we experience are present.

I hope you have found the help you needed and are having some relief from the dreadful period your RLS your experiencing.

May respite prevail. Take care. John

Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding! That was one of the most painful and unrelenting bouts I’ve ever had...

Worried about tonight as I’m out of Mirapex and out of money! This should be quite the experiment!

in reply to

Oh dear, so sorry! Will be thinking of you and hope you have a good night.

Just a thought: have you discussed with your doctor what to do when this happens? If not, you might want to do this. S/he might have some ideas. RLS is so incredibly torturous that I’m scared of what I might do if didn’t have my medicine to fall back on.

Much easier said than done (especially in this situation), but try and stay calm. Do something calming before getting into bed.

There are a couple of Youtube sessions that I’ve had some success with (first one in calming the legs, second one in calming my nerves).

1. Rife Frequencies. The science behind these is that specific ailments respond to specific musical tones. Type «Rife Frequencies RLS» into Youtube and it will come up with a couple of 10-minute sessions geared specifically towards RLS. These are akin to binaural beats, so they are best «enjoyed» with headphones

2. Wholetones Healing Frequencies. There is an interesting story behind these at wholetones.com. The guy wants you to buy his stuff, but I found free samples of it on Youtube by typing in «Wholetones».

Good luck tonight!

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I will definitely try it! I bought some sleepy time tea without caffeine (of course) and maybe I will try that too!

in reply to

you’re very welcome! How was your night?

in reply to

Not good...slept about 2 hours, legs in overdrive! I’ve got to work 12 hour shifts for the next 3 days. Hopefully, I’ll survive! Thanks for asking!

in reply to

I’m sorry. Yep, you’ll survive! It seems like the body has a magical way of keeping going even when exhausted. If I had a penny for every time I thought that I was too exhausted to do something, but then did it anyway, I’d be a millionaire!

My therapist once told me that the body ensures that it gets the rest it needs. My reply, «well, my body somehow didn’t get that message».
