Clarithromycin.

Hi. I have been prescribed Clarithromycin for celluliitis, have been taking it for 2 days so far, 2 doses per day x 500 mg each tablet, has anyone had side effects with these tablets? my legs seem extra bad and also several other side effects, I do not know whether to stop them or not, have not been on site recently but you used to find medication that was bad for RLS, but can't find it now.

Any help would be appreciated

That drug seems to affect a lot of people negatively. Especially causing rls .

Paauw said the antibiotic clarithromycin is associated with multiple dangerous drug interactions; however, it is frequently prescribed. Drugs associated with clarithromycin interactions include statins (particularly simvastatin/lovastatin), calcium channel blockers, glipizide/glyburide and colchicine. According to Paauw, in terms of drug interactions, azithromycin is a better choice"

Thanks for the info very interesting, did not know it interacted with so many drugs will ask the doctor about azithromycin see if that helps.

I had an antibiotic - Amoxicillin and it sent my RLS which had stopped into over drive and it took several weeks for the RLS to quieten again, (using drugs and diet).

Strange how we differ on what we can or cant take, i have had Amoxicillin twice recently for a tooth infection and my RLS was no worse than it normally is.

I think that plays a big part in getting a proper treatment strategy - there are just so many variables that trying to lock it down becomes impossible.
