It's Gabapentin in a form that avoids complications and may be taken at a lower dose.

Not available everywhere, and may be expensive.

It is slow release and is absorbed thru the bowels and not the stomach. Not sure what you need to know?

Well... right now I'm back on 6 mg of ropinerole ...2 mg around 4pm and then 4 mg before bed along with 5mg zolpidem. After a horrible 4 to 5 days of "demons" in my legs something is working . I've been in touch via email with a Dr Buchfuhrer from California. He has been so helpful and I also just ordered 2 of his books. He suggested horizant and Lyrica. I thought I understood about augmentation... I cut down on my own and then my PCP thought diazapam might help me to sleep. Not good!!! So I went back on ropinerole on my own...and now it's working?? I don't get it... but I'm going through a 2nd total hip replacement and have plenty of time to research this lousy condition that many don't know about. It's very frustrating.

That seems a very high dose of ropinerole, tweedy. I think it won’t be long before that starts to cause problems for you. You are right to look for alternative drugs to help with your condition. Horizant works great for lots of people with rls. It can take a while to build up in the system so best to start soon before your operation. You should probably start on a low dose abd gradually work up. In your shoes I would at the same time start gradually reducing ropinerole.

Have you had your serum ferritin checked? It would be important to keep iron levels high given your large dose of ropinerole. High iron can help somewhat to prevent augmentation.
