It works for some people and not for others. Also has side effects.

What are you on at present and why do you want to change?

Please read up all on "augmentation" on this site. And don't let your dr up the dose of prami. You will have to get off it first and then try gabapentin or pregabalin.

You will need a lotof help coming off the prami.

Discuss with your dr.

Good luck.

I read from a previous post of six months ago that you have already started to slowly come off pramipexole. How is that going?

I remember you saying in another posting that unfortunately your neuro appointment had been cancelled. It is so annoying/disappointing when this happens, isn't it?

Tony, you have only just stopped the pramipexole of I am correct. See your own post of 3 days ago and especially Elisse2’s reply. You will be suffering withdrawal (= increased RLS symptoms) for probably at least 2-4 weeks after your past pramipexole tablet. Pregabalin often takes a while (=weeks) to become fully effective. And, as long as you are still suffering withdrawal from the pramipexole, it will be hard if not impossible to assess whether pregabalin is effective for you.

As Elisse advised you earlier, and as many RLS expert docotrs advise, painkillers are the most effective medicines during this withdrawal period. For example tramadol. Please discuss with your doctor.

My question to other forum members: is there a leaflet or webpage somewhere that briefly outlines the strategy for dealing with DA-withdrawal? The Allaying Augmentation paper doesn’t discuss it.

Good question Lotte on whether there is a leaflet etc that explains how to wean off a dopamine med. Right now i cant think if there is.

Yes I take pregabalin I suffer with Fibromyalgia and RLS can be a part of that syndrome. My gp put me on a small dose of ropinorol it’s worked wonders it really has. I suffered really bad with it but now when I go to bed I wrap up in a sheet keeping my feet covered with the sheet I have a quilt on top but rolled up away from my feet so the quilt doesn’t touch any part of me from the knees down. I find if I don’t have a sheet on my feet they are fighting and quickly come up to a hot temperature , having a sheet on them (nothing else) keeps them cooler. I haven’t had a problem with my feet since I started on the medication 5 months ago hope this helps
