Need more info.

Going off Prami causes withdrawal- if that answers your question.

The higher the dose and the longer you take it, the worse the withdrawal.

Hi Edward,

How long were you on pramipexole, what dose & how slowly did you reduce dose? You need opioids to help with withdrawal, which can last months. What other meds are you on?

Edward, are you in the USA/ I'm not familiar with those doses but hopefully someone who knows about US doses will be along soon. Pippins posted about maximum doses yesterday & this is what she wrote

"Hi just checking in so the regulars on here don't think I have popped my clogs! I had a quick scroll through posts and see over and over the same problems with over prescribing doses of the Dopamine Agonists resulting in our old friend augmentation so here's a reminder of the maximum daily dosage recommended by the RLS EXPERTS not your average haven't got a clue doctors /Neurologists.

Pramipexole /Mirapex /Mirapexin is 2 x. 0.08 per day

Requip ( Ropinerole ) 2mg per day preferably 1mg

Neupro patch (Ritigotine ) 3mg patch

If you are needing to up your dose, if you are getting symptoms earlier in the day, if your symptoms are spreading into other body parts most commonly the arms, if your symptoms are starting up after shorter periods of rest and relaxation then you have augmentation

Put augmentation into search there are literally hundreds of posts on this topic. It is the most frequent problem on every restless legs syndrome group"

As you can see, someone asks for help on here every day because of Dopamine Agonists. If any of the above sounds familiar, you could be suffering Augmentation and will need to reduce the pramipexole slowly with the help of an opioid like tramadol.

Hope your arm mends soon,

Jools

Hi Edward, I think, you may want to have an alternative ready as you power down from the Pramipexole, otherwise you will get augmented symptoms, There is no way round it.
