AND NOW A WEE BIT OF 'GOOD' NEWS ABOUT ME

You may recall that I had a certain ambition to become a 'Patient Liason Advocate', which for those of you who are new to this website is something that I felt (thru my personal experience gained thru numerous hospitalisations), that I was actually quite experienced in this field.

Another long story short, I have finished my in-house training and, (not meaning to blow my own trumpet too much .... hell why not), I am so proud and actually rather quite giddy at the prospect, I can officially hereby inform you .... that I have passed my in-house training, in flying colours, and am just now waiting for a somewhat suitable appointment to a convenient hospital, nursing home, dementia clinic etc etc within my jurisdiction. To say that I am thrilled and excited would be a complete and total understatement. (I even get to wear a pretty extremely looking official badge). I guess one could say I now work for the government albeit in a volunteer capacity.

So please wish me luck and good wishes my fellow posters..

Hi Phogan, I do remember when this first came up for you and am thrilled at where you are now. Good for you. We NEED patient advocates especially in today's healthcare system and so many people need an objective advocate. Family often means well but they are sometimes too close to the patient and situation to be helpful, Also, they-and patients- don't always know how to 'navigate the system'. Good luck-here's hoping you get a post quickly. BTW I had joined last year (former user name burmag). Quit and rejoined in Jan. Keep me posted. irina1975
