BEEN A WHILE.

Just been given targinact for rls.

I started 5mg, then10mg but now take 20mg with great results.

My previous prescription Dipipanome Cyclazine is classed as a red drug and no longer prescribed.

Still early days but the Targinact is giving me a good night's sleep so far.

Great to hear. Thanks for sharing. Targinact is still the only drug specifically licensed for RLS.

HI, Jools, there is another med that was specifically licensed for RLS, and it is Horizant, in the states even though it was an epic fail financially for them. :) And, in the states, I know that The dopamine meds were not MADE for RLS, but technically they they are now licensed and approved for RLS since 2007. Technically they are Parkinson's meds, but after many studies, a lot of what was found to be 'tainted' (as in the results) they were officially approved for RLS by the FDA.

But, having said that, I am always interested in the Targinact posts, since it is the newest thing. They are also using it for other conditions, anything that can require an opiate. :) We talk a lot about it in the Chronic Pain Network, since they have unleashed the war on drugs in the US.

Sadly Horizant is only available in the USA.

We have the plain Gabapentin here in the UK but it’s prescribed off licence and isn’t as effective.

Oh right! The British pharma company that was supposed to be helping to develop it dropped out! Sorry about that. :) I agree on the Gabapentin.

Nightdancer, is that about the British pharma dropping out the reason why Horizant never made it in the EU? Do you know? Or, if it wasn’t, what other reason is behind it?

Can you gain weight using targinact

My appetite has not changed at all yet.

Great nights sleep last night 8hrs.

Unlikely- it’s an opioid. It’s not listed as a side effect whereas Gabapentin and pregabalin do list weight gain as a side effect.

That's good news. What type of drug is it?x

OxyContin combined with Naloxone to prevent constipation.

It’s an opioid. Licensed here in UK by NICE specifically for RLS.

Being a really good person - I think that's the first time I've seen that posted. Will try it from tomorrow.

I'm really pleased that targinact is working for you. It is scary when one seems to be running out of meds to try. I presume that you have also dallied with raising your serum ferritin levels.
