Has anyone tried Tyrosine supplements?

I know there was a study done a while back on starting with 750 mg the first week and adding 750 per week up to 3000 mg I think? If someone has seen and read the study with findings that would be cool to know!

I had planned on it several months ago, when I read about side effects I decided not to risk it. I opted for vitamin shop GABA, going on the 8th day - no difference.

Theoretically, GABA cannot cross the blood-brain barrier. I think the molecule is too big. It will get in if you have a leaky BBB, which you don't want, really. Some say it can get to the brain via the vagus nerve, but that is unproven.

Herbs and supplements that are known to increase GABA in one way or another include valerian, skullcap, kava-kava, lemon balm, ashwagandha, chamomile, theanine, green tea and taurine. Mostly, all the old favourites from Grandma's medicine chest!

Thanks. I did try GABA, but it didn't work, probably for the reason you site.

I take valerian, chamomile, theanine, and 3 cups green tea daily.

When I added theanine in the recommended dose I went 3 months without RLS, but it came back as theanine lost its effect.

As far as the others, perhaps their use is why so far my years of RLS are not as bad as others describe.

I would not expect it to solve the RLS, but I would expect that one could have better quality sleep - what there is of it - and not so much misery during the day. Have you tried sceletium ? It is a traditional African herbal that is gaining recognition. And try adding taurine to the mix.

I read the sceletium research. One of the side effects is headache. As a migraine sufferer I find most things that list headaches as a side effect will induce a migraine soon after starting.

I have occasional nights when I don't have RLS and nothing is changed, added or omitted.

Mine is the neurological component that latent celiac disease carries with it. We also don't absorb meds and/or supplements the same way.
