My name is Lee and this is my first post on this site. I believe that most of you who have been following Paddy's posts are already aware of my situation.
But not through my words.
When I was lucky enough to have met Paddy, I was honestly at my wits end. I hadn't even heard of RLS. I was believing the doctors, my family, my friends, and even my husband, that these uncomfortable feelings I was experiencing in my legs was either caused by tired or lazy muscles, or over-worked muscles, or it was all in my head.
I just thought I was going crazy. All I really wanted was sleep. I was overtired, overwhelmed, overexhausted, and just simply over it all.
Until I met someone who, (albeit a stranger), on noticing my distress, offered me a cup of coffee, and explained she was willing to just sit and listen, without any form of judgemental opinions whatsoever. And she was true to her word.
And, although I won't be as dramatic as to say that she saved my life, I will go as to say that she probably saved my sanity, and I can definitely say, without any hesitation, that she definitely changed my life.
After listening, without interruption, she minimally described to me, her experience with this 'thing' called RLS.
Maybe I was experiencing shock, I truly don't know for sure, but I do understand that I was feeling sheer relief.
You all know what the eventual outcome was. Doctor appointment this next day, specialist appointment within 2 weeks, sleep study, diagnosis, Restless Legs Syndrome.
The medications that I have advised to begin with are Temazepam and Magnesium and Calcium.
And since I have been taking these meds, my life is once again worth living. Words cannot explain the gratitude i feel towards Paddy, (there should be more people in the world like her).
Thanks for reading my first post.
