RLS/WEIGHT/MEDS SURVEY

OK, thought as I couldn't find the original post, which was an answer to someone else anyway, thought the best thing would be to start a completely new thread. For the purposes of this, I need to know:

1 Were you overweight/obese when RLS originally diagnosed?

2 Has your weight increased or decreased significantly since diagnosis?

3 Has your diet changed since diagnosis?

4 What meds were you on when your weight began to change?

5 Are you still on them, or have you changed, and if so, what to?

6 What effect, if any, has this had?

Is this addressed to anyone in particular? Or part of a survey for fat people with rls?

Just asking!😯

Why should it be a survey for fat people with RLS? Read the first question - there are 2 possible answers, one of which would indicate that obesity was not there previously. Q2 similarly asks for weight change, not necessarily weight gain. And so on.

As Madlegs asks, is this for a survey or research article? I think you'll find there's no common thread- Some will be overweight, some underweight. A lot of people will have followed a particular diet to see if it helps. Some drugs commonly prescribed for RLS have weight gain as a common side effect ( gabapentin & pregabalin).

regrads,

Jools

Statistics rely on percentages - no group of people, even with a common factor like RLS will have uniform responses. And you don't need to get involed if you don't want to.

I think you need to have an introduction that tells people what you want to know this information for. Your problem is twofold. Firstly you get your subjects back up so they don't want to answer./ Secondly, and more importantly, you will only get answers from a particular cohort consisting of people who weren't put off by the questions, hence there is no value in your result. Even asking a forum like this is not much use because there are perhaps 1000 times as many people who have RLS and have never heard of this forum. So your survey is people who are reading this forum at this moment and who were attracted to your subject and who could be bothered to answer.

Dear me, what a bunch of sensitive little flowers you are! I don't think I can be bothered tiptoeing around your sensitivities, wondering who I've managed to upset this time.

No, not me. I get what you're saying. I've definitely gained weight, a lot. Approximately 30 lbs and have been trying to lose with no success. I believe it's from the ropinerole but there's no alternative for me. BTW, I had just lost about 80 lbs before I began ropinerole. My GP doesn't see the correlation,,,, I wish I could find a doctor who suffers with RLS then maybe, just maybe, they'd finally understand.

Wow. You are a slice of sunshine, aren’t you?! A true piece of sh work.

Your udder lack of niceties has me laughing out loud at you. I’m sure you don’t care. I just couldn’t help but to let you know you’ve charmed me in the absolute opposite meaning of the words.

My mom always said “you’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”... never knew why one would want to catch flies in the first place; but I digress. Though I’d say if you truly want participants in your mini-surveys, consider lightening up with the tude .

Thank for the hilarity!

No, no and no.

I understand that gabapentin and related drugs can/do cause weight-gain. but I do not take that. Or not yet.
