There's no absolute amount- but usually between 200 and 400 mg should help. Some Drs say - take it to toleration limit- meaning , take as much as your body tolerates ( fluidity of your stools 😨)

Epsom salt bath is an easier way to allow absorbsion of mg into the body. Two cups into warm bath, soak for 15 to 20 mins.

Good luck.

Thanks I just took 300 mg citrate. I wonder how much u really absorb in a bath. I may try mixing one in a bowl and apply to pain in my knee to see if all of it helps rls.

Apparently absorption is a problem with magnesium - hence the discussion about the different kinds.

Seemingly it is best absorbed through the skin.
