Saw a different neurologist who suggested coming off ropinorole 4mg and try neupro 1mg patch and up my pregabalin to 300mg. Sat here now thinking what was the point as my legs are going nuts.

Hi restless,

I think you need to come off the ropinirole much more slowly. Did he just tell you to stop cold turkey? If so, you are in withdrawal and that's why legs are going nuts.

Pregabalin won't stop the jumpy legs while you are withdrawing from the ropinirole. Try coming off ropinirole slowly over weeks/months at .5mg every few weeks and take an opioid like tramadol or codeine while doing it.

I know a few people go straight on the neupro patch after coming off ropinirole, but I think you'd be better leaving it a couple of months as it is another dopamine agonist. Once off ropinirole, the pregabalin will work much better, or some people find tramadol on its own works for them.

Try searching AUGMENTATION in the search section above and you'll see why your legs are going nuts.

I tried the patches, no help, what works for me now ropinorole 4 mg, flexural, melatonin, magnesium as long as I take it all about 3hours before bed time I'm going to get to sleep!!

Always exercise caution changing meds. You need to realise your Dr will not know the correct way to come off them, (as a general rule of thumb).

I took myself of tramadol and after a couple of weeks couldn't bare it and went looking treatment. Long story short I went over a year without medication and lost count of the nights/mornings I contemplated suicide!

I still hope to go drug free but I will manage that on my own, at least that way I can't be left in the same position again.

Before anyone here goes to a Dr check out NICE guidelines in UK or relevant ones for your area and then come on here and discuss. That way you go forearmed and better able to advocate for yourself.

I remember changing to the patch from Ropinerole, but had already reduced from 4mgs to 2 and the patch seemed to be OK. Make sure you are not taking anything that makes the RLS worse or stops the effect of the drugs...I mean, antidepressants or stomach calming medicine.

You might need to up the patch dose, 1mg very low but of course you can only be led by the medics. I hope you get some sleep soon.
