Oh No, it's back again!

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have had RLS since my first child in 1991. I have been on medication most of my life for BPD/Anxiety Disorder and taking my night time sedative helped me to sleep better despite the RLS, if my meds kicked in quickly I would have a good sleep but if for some reason it didn't I would still have the aching but the meds eventually would make me go to sleep.. I have recently come off my sedative and the RLS is back with a vengeance. I have not slept for the last 5 nights and my legs ache the whole night through now and sometimes my arms, which is a lot worse than when I was younger. Both my legs are still aching a little today which is something new to what I used to have. People don't realise how it can affect you. How miserable it makes your nights and how you can dread going to bed. I am trying my best to persevere in the hope it settles down but I am already thinking that perhaps I should go back on my sedative because I can't bear to think that every night will be like this but I really don't want to have to go back on my meds :-( Is there any other therapy that anyone has tried that could help or is this it?!

There are essential oil blends that can be used:

amazon.com/Natures-Inventor...

There is audio app that can be got on Amazon:

amazon.com/Vital-Tones-Rest...

And hot baths are my particular go to, the relief doesn't last long but its relief!

Good luck.

Sorry Sharron you are in trouble ,there are things people say work like soap under the sheet don't laugh ,but honestly go to the docs and sort yourself out because it's you that is suffering, like you say a bout no sleep which is the worst thing ,if a tablet helps you take the thing ,I am on Tramodol not perfect but I know which I would rather do ,good luck to you x

I know the desperation you feel I have been there and dread the next time I have to go through it. it seems from being on this website that everyone responds differently to all kinds of treatment. I take Percocet a very small dose at night starting around 7pm and it does give me relief but it doesn't get rid of the rls. I have been on just about all the meds I think there are. I tried sinamet, klonopin, garbentin, (don't have the spelling right on these) and recently about 15 years on Mirapex which I found out causes rebound effect or augmentation. I got off it right before Christmas ( a great time to do this NOT) But now just take the Percocet. The codeine does seem to help and have been taking it for about 15 or so years. I am not addicted or I don't wake up every morning thinking gee I need to take my Percocet. Or I just have to take it. Life can be so difficult for us who suffer rls and not too many people who don't have it understand. I now tell people I have a movement disorder and wait to see the expression on their face. maybe they are waiting for me to move wrong. ha. With you in the same boat
