Keeping in mind that there are always exceptions, the benzos usually help RLS, not make it worse. But, are those the only class of meds that you are on for it? They are definitely not the first line of treatment for RLS for most RLSer's. have you ever tried any others yet? Your doctor would infuriate me if he treated me that way. There are a LOT of meds that can make RLS worse, but many different ones to try. Check out the list of posts on the side, lots of discussions of meds. ;)

Thanks my gp does infuriate me after 20 years on benzos prescribed now I am feeling it I ask him to stop these many years ago and was laughed at me saying it would b better to keep me on the diazepam due to the length of time I have been on them I can't c why they give you benzodiazepines as they are a really bad med to be on once addicted pray

I have been on benzos for over a decade, plus pain meds which are the only things that help my RLS. With all those meds, I lay off of them a few nights month to avoid dependence. The Clonazepam I take is the one I really have to lay off a few nights a month, it more addicting, or easier to build up dependence for most people, than even the narcotic pain meds. I think your doctor is definitely worried about withdrawal, but do not like that he laughed about it and did not take you seriously about your worries.

they really cannot chemically cause RLS at all, so I agree totally. I take Xanax whenever I fly, my doc gives me enough for about 10 days, and they are magic for me.
