Hi Beady :)

Perhaps, next time you speak with your nice doctor you would like point him in the direction of the new RLS-UK website, rls-uk.org where he can learn all about augmentation and more. There is a section entitled For Professionals as well.

I don't like the new site it's confusing I think

Good morning Erona :)

I am sorry you get confused finding your away around the new RLS-UK website.

A doctor who does not know much about RLS would probably find it helpful/useful to be pointed in the direction of the site.

It is one small way we sufferers can promote awareness of RLS to the medical profession.

Hi beady, maybe my lovely doc went to the same med school as yours. He has the same lack of awareness of RLS. Saw the senior doc at the practice yesterday. He suggested quinine which I said, as tactfully as poss, I thought was for muscles. I said I understood RLS was neurological. He muttered about the drug companies putting out information and pushing drugs without regard to side effects. Anyway he thinks it's all related to thyroid problems, which one doctor says is over and one says is under active. I have a very croaky voice lately and he is sending me for a scan thinking enlarged goitre is pressing against voice box. He has prescribed thyroid med. I haven't scrip handy to see what. I'll give it a go. Am still reducing tramadol. Down to about 25 to 30mg once a day. I think the RLS is decreasing. Something is helping. Whether it's tonic water, magnesium spray or iron and vit C I don't know. Or possibly the tramadol was keeping it going. I can't stop tramadol altogether just yet as when I forgot to take it at 4pm my legs went mad and I couldn't get them settled for hours. I know several people who are taking tramadol for nerve pains and seem to have no problems so far. I did take pregablin 100mg (Lyrica) once for pain. It was great for pain and me light headed and high. Not unpleasant but I'm sure it's addictive. Hope you get some real help soon. Keep you posted. All the best, dot.

I am on Pregabaline was on 100mg and just had another 25mg added to the mix.. though not noticing much difference I am on 50mg amytryptiline also I think it is this that needs increasing as it seems the only med which stops the pain but he don't want to increase that he said due to it causing tiredness but I think it is good myself.. I wish you luck with it x

Hi Pat,

Amitriptyline is one of the drugs to avoid if suffering from RLS as it aggravates the symptoms for most people. I was on amitriptyline for a year some time ago for something else and I did not find it made my RLS worse but apparently I am very much in the minority.

I never heard of it, but ia m on Tramadol 50mg. one at 7pm the other between 12:3-1am and can get through the night, so far. I'll investigate about this Pregablin. Is it relatd to Gabapentin?

Johannasuar, Pregabalin is also called Lyrica. It is basically the same as Gabapentin, but stronger, so the dosage is less.
