Hi friends, I've just been reading the recent conversation about magnesium and calcium and the possibility of these supplements helping RLS.

I'm interested in trying these supplements. I'm wondering what dose is helpful. Can anyone help me with this?

Cheers.

Hi jumpey..from what I understand a normal dose of magnesium is 350 mg per day. To help rls we need to increase it to 300-1000 mg per day . Calcium should be half the dose. So 150 -500. One should only use mag. Glycinate or chelated mag. It is better absorbed than other forms. Start off low and increase slowly splitting the daily dose to take am and pm. Please do some research before you start as there can be side effects. It's also used as a laxative!!!!! So don't do it if you already take them. Also it can impair your kidneys if you have any kidney problems. Do research and ask your doctor first!

Thank you very much for this info- much appreciated. As you suggest, I'll use this info and discuss it with my doctor. Go well.

There are medical tests that confirm the vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Sometimes I wonder why the tests are not being utilized more often by

doctors. They wait until strong physical symptoms present themselves

before they look for deficiencies.
