Yep! But not much anymore. When the skin on my arms was really tight and thick like hide. They itched all the time, and I scratched like mad. Unfortunately, my skin became tanned over night and still is except for where I scratched! I get funny little lumps, like mini corns - but on my arms - so I zap those with cuticle remover. Xx

Simple. Take a antihistamine. I've found that works.

Poor you! I know how you feel. I am driven crazy with itchiness generally and I have an itchy patch in the palm of one hand that itches so much I sometimes want to chop my hand off at the wrist. Nothing helps. My back and both legs are covered in dark scars which seem to be more itchy at nights when my body gets warmer in bed. I now sleep with a "back scratcher" and a tub of epaderm ointment 500g on the bedside table. Keeping the skin moist is good but keeping the hands moisturised is hard as they are always in water for one reason or another. I always take antihistamine, couldn't be without it. I beleive this skin problem is common in Raynaud's sufferers. It is very hard to deal with. My doctor has ran out of ideas to treat my skin problem.

Ask you doctor for a prescription for some bath oil or emulsifying ointment and use those instead of soap to bath/shower/strip wash. I use olive oil for my skin especially after a bath. Good luck, wishing you more comfortable days.

yes, most days its ok, but when it does get worse, its agony! next time i go to the doctors i will consider asking about that, thanks. also this may seem a dumb question, but what does a rheumatologist actually do? thanks x

In my case, sod all other than patronise me! Sorry! I've just had too much caffeine today.

Just don't let them push you into anything that you don't feel is right for you. It's your body, when all is said and done. Good luck honey xx

I have dreadful itching which is getting much worse since I have tailed off my steroids. I would be lost without antihistamine which I get on prescription. I have diffuse scleroderma with raynauds.

My skin itches a lot in response to various foods - for me the worst culprits are citrus fruits. It can often be really difficult to track these down as the response might not necessarily happen straight away but if you have a sensitivity to something you are eating all the time like dairy or wheat you wont find out unless you try cutting them out for a couple of weeks and then gradually reintroduce to spot the culprits! See if you can find an alternative health practitioner near to you who can guide you with this process as it needs a lot of preparation, but worth the effort. This may be separate from the Raynauds!
