Can I improve BMD without meds?
I’m also on Tamoxifen for breast cancer but may switch to
Raloxifene
which could help a little.

Update!
I spoke with my GP and after some discussion I am going to try
Raloxifene
. It works in a different way to the other treatments (AA and Riseondrate) so I’m hoping I can manage this new regime . Has anyone been on Raloxifine? 🤞

Hip pain
I have severe OP, had 5 compression fractures, 2 years of teriparatide, now on
Raloxifene
. Over the last week I’ve had nasty hip pain, much worse at night. It eases with exercise, is worse with sitting and standing.

Mattress?
I had 2 years of teriparatide and I’m now on
Raloxifene
. I’ve had no further fractures, fingers crossed that continues.

2 questions i asked chat open AI mostly beyond my understanding but might be of interest to some of you :)
Proteasome Enhancers:
Raloxifene
: This FDA-approved drug, traditionally used for osteoporosis, has shown some promise in preclinical studies for enhancing proteasomal degradation of misfolded alpha-synuclein.

Evista - Raloxifene allergic reaction
Wasn't sure about taking this med because of potential side effects. Decided to try and after my first dose, experienced itchy skin about 2 hours later. Took benadryl and itchy skin subsided by end of day. No one is sure if it it is an allergic reaction. Recommend to stop and try a few days later

For those who have fractured, drugs and supplements
I am looking at Strontium Ranelate, I am in the UK so can get this, although I think the aspartamine in it will give me migraine which I get a lot, also,
Raloxifene
, but not sure this will prevent fractures enough, biodentical hormones are a possibility, maybe calcitonin as I have heard it prevents migraine

Raloxifene (Evista) osteoporosis drug and PD
Research in mice shows that the osteoporosis drug "
raloxifene
" (brand name Evista) may help prevent dopaminergic neuron loss. Just wondered if anyone here is taking it already for osteoporosis, and has it helped your PD?

Osteoporosis of Lumbar Spine
The alternative recommendation is
raloxifene
. I am very reluctant to take any drugs. My femoral bones are fine. It's just the L4, little used part of the spine, that is an issue. My questions please: 1.

Coronavirus: Using European supercomputing, EU-funded research project announces promising results for potential treatment.
EU-funded consortium Exscalate4CoV has announced that an already registered generic drug used to treat osteoporosis,
Raloxifene
, could be an effective treatment for COVID-19 patients with mildly symptomatic infection.

What to take to discontinue Prolia safely and for how long?
A few days after talking to her, I found a paper in the medical literature entitled "
Raloxifene
has no efficacy in reducing... the risk of spontaneous vertebral fractures...", so crossed that one off the list!

Prolia Denounced -
In osteoporosis, when non-drug means and the intake of calcium and vitamin D are effective insufficient, alendronic acid (Fosamax ° or other), or even
raloxifene
(Evista ° or other) as an alternative, have a better risk-benefit balance, despite the significant limitations of these drugs.

Strontium Ranelate
I’m nearly 4mths into treatment with
Raloxifene
without any side effects but it is good to know there is now another option, without having to consider bisphosonates.
