weekend struggle...

the weekends are definitely the hardest...Im too cautious to have a drink and unwind on friday night as the craving will multiply tenfold!! last night I : went shopping, took the dog for a long walk, had a long hot bath, read through several newspapers and it was still only 8.30pm!!!! I felt bored, restless and flat as a pancake. Can anyone tell me if/when this feeling of desperation passes. i can cope during the week,i forget to remember about smoking, if you know what I mean, ....but the weekends i remember every single one help!! x

Hey bud

Sorry to hear you are having such a trouble at the weekends.

I know how you are feeling, weekends were bad for me too, I will be at 8 weeks comes Tuesday and this is the first weekendmthat I feel that I have been ok.

Everybody is different and copes with their ceavings in a different way and has different reasons for stopping.

Just dont let it get you down, you will get past that horrible stage, the time between the cravings will get longer and when they do come they will be shorter and not as fierce.

yeah Buddyboo, I think the weekends are the hardest too :( try to keep yourself busy, thats what I do :) knit, crosswords, cleaning, exercising, writing a book about quitting smoking :o come on here and have a moan :o :) anything :) I do know how hard it is, maybe just have one drink to help you unwind a little :) snack on something, try healthy if you can :) if that fails, have a scrap with hubby :D :D

Do you feel empty inside :o thats nic wanting his punch, so you have to fill the emptiness with something else :)

Your doing so so well :) you keep focused and determined eh your going to get there :)

Pete :) xx

Like everyone has said, try to keep busy, i would knit, do crossword to keep my hands and mind busy, if it got to bad i used to punch a pillow, i even screamed and shouted in the park once, there was nobody about though, come on here and moan almost you need to, i would never have got this far without a moan and the help of all the wonderful people on here, stay strong, you can do this :) xx

Hi Boo,I think these guys have it right and its good to know..good to know we all feel like that and that it does pass. You are doing really well ,dont let Nic back in,he doesnt deserve the space :) I think we expect instant results almost..not to have any bad feelings or if we do to be able to manange them..but as these good folks have shown..its normal ,part of the passage, BUT its not the destination..just for some a pathway that we have to walk to get where we want to be ..nic free ;) big strong positive thoughts coming to you :) well done you :)

Hey Buddyboo, agree with all everyone has said. Exercise works for me, harder the better, the more you do the more you realise what you could do with healthy lungs...

And if nothing else, have a little chuckle at our 'Compo' knitting :-) :-) sorry Pete ;-) ;-)

exercise is the answer, plan to take the kids swimming next friday instead of feeling sorry for myself because I can't get tipsy and smoke myself silly!!! sounds odd now that thats why I was moaning!! x

Hi Buddyboo :) :)

Although I am taking champix to help me quit, I do find that i need a bit of a hand now and then :o and have found that the mouth spray works very well for me :) ha ha although I did get hiccups at first :D I was then told to try pulling my cheek out, and spraying it on the inside of my cheek and not directly at the back of my throat :) and also, to make a cup with one hand and spray it in that, then with a clean finger, dip it in and rub it on your gums, hey presto no hiccups :) :D magic eh :)

There is also the :-

Inhalator - I have tried this and works well, but not quite strong enough for me, it's like a plastic fag, so if you like something in your hands, then maybe this is for you :)

gum - Hmmm not keen, but other people on here swear by it :)

lozenges - Same as above

Microtabs - Again not keen, just couldnt get used to parking them up on one side of my mouth :o

nasal spray - Never tried, and havent heard anything about it yet :(

I hope I have helped you a bit, it is up to you which NRT you choose to help you :) good luck Buddyboo :)

Pete :)
