Hiya PB, you've done the right thing by coming on here. Take some deep breaths and maybe go out for a walk and get some fresh air if possible. You really will be kicking yourself if you do have that cigarette. I went cold turkey too and would find a place where I could shout the cravings away and it will be 9 months for me tomorrow. If you have survived for this long, especially over the festive season, then you ARE strong enough to get through this period which will probably only last for a short time.
Good luck, you know you can do this.
DONT HAVE A FAG
You will be so dissapointed with yourself, we have all been there, you are doing great and showing us newbie non smokers that we CAN get to that 3 month mark, your in a new month so dont start it with a horrid tasting/smelling rotten fag
As andi said go for a walk and clear your chest, breathe, go keep yourself busy, you can do it
Hi and well done ..3MONTHS quit thats brilliant . Sorry to hear you are feeling desperate for a fag..all i can say is DONT ! You have done so well ,if you have one you know you will regret it.
Think about what it is that is making you feel like you want one..stress,other people smoking, remembering it with rose coloured glasses, Why do you feel this way ?
Here is a quote someone wrote on someone elses post recently I think its very true ..
' If you have a cigarette because you are stressed it wont solve your problem, you might think it will make you feel better but that will only last for a few minutes then you will be wishing you hadn't had it and if you start smoking again you would only want to quit again so what's the point '
If needs be go and speak to a stop smoke advisor at your gps
Remind yourself why you quit, distract yourself.
At the moment these are just thoughts thats all, bad niggly ones but just thoughts, dont let them undo all your hard work.
Wish I could offer you more ..good luck and STAY STRONG, xx jan
Hi PB1999,
You've come so far and done ever so well, does that not give you a sense of achievement?
Hw often is this feeling coming on you and how long does it last? As Jan says, do you think there is anything that has triggered these feelings?
If not, do you think you could be that you 'think' you want to smoke rather tan you actually 'do' want to smoke? Sometimes, as a smoker - we can quite often get feelings of cravings confused with feelings of stress or anxiety. They can all feel quite similar. When somebody initially stops smoking, and feels this way it is usually withdrawal symptoms and by doing deep breathing exercises usually helps overcome these moments. However, if an ex-smoker becomes stressed or anxious, they can quite often mistake this feeling for a craving.
You've had some great advice above already and I hope you are feeling much better now. It does get easier.
Nobody sad it would be easy, but everybody says that it's worth it
