Hi all,

I slipped up at the weekend. I was out with my friends, very very drunk, barely remember it if i am being honest, and i had 3 cigarettes. I havent touched one since i woke up on sunday morning and dont feel the need to, just feel bummed that i was an idiot and had 3 in the first place.

Need cheering up i think :( sorry for letting you all down, guess my quit isnt as easy as i thought it was :(

Sorry again guys! :( :( :(

Jess, you have not let anyone down! and look at you! already back on the wagon to not smoke again!

this will just be a bump in the road that you will soon forget, alcohol does seem to be a major trigger for a lot of us, for me, it's wine, I had one sip and wanted a cig so I haven't touched it sense.

3 months was a tremendous run! we are all human, none are perfect, but you have the right attitude not to touch another, and not to want another. Don't be too hard on yourself and beat yourself up.

I hope you realize the courage it takes to admit that you slipped momentarily, I'm sure a lot of folks don't. you're now back on your feet, dust yourself off and enough today as another smoke free day.

sending prayers and blessings your way to lift you up and give you comfort :)

Hi carissa, thank you for your kind words. I just feel like i have let everyone down including myself. Just annoyed. I dont go out drinking often so maybe that was why i was able to make it to 3 months. That was my first night out since new year. I also didnt have my vape which was annoying, but i know for sure next time i will bring the vape.

Just annoyed i have ruined my 3 month streak, that is what upsets me the most :(

Hi Jess, don't be so hard on yourself, or sorry, guess a lot of us if honest would say we have slipped up when we have tried to quit. I know I did on several tries. The thing is you are back on track. So I would say it was a good practice run, and you know what the trigger is now. You have done Fantastic and your back on to it . Cheer up , don't beat yourself up, this quit road is not easy, and we learn from our mistakes . Sending you a big hug x

Listen Ms Jess--you never let a soul down--I just replied to a post the other day about this very thing--someone went out and the same thing happened--Now you know at least for now--you cant do this--It has been 6 mos for me--and Im scared to have a glass of wine--First of all because I don't like just one most of the time and secondly cigs go so well with drinking--(I rarely drink anymore so this may be a little easier for me) Third--Once you get a buzz--> the will power goes out the window--so like I told the other person--you taught us--and yourself--I hope someday I can have some wine--but now-I know Id smoke--You were just testing the waters and you found out so the best thing for you is get back on the wagon and chalk it up as experience--Ok sweety? Your ok--you will make it and NOONE is disappointed in you-you are still part of our circle and we support you.....-love,MmeT

I understand Jess--you are going to be fine--I would have done the same thing--So now you know--not a drop today anyway-- It helps sharing those things because we all learn--I sure did--so thank you for being honest--Just go forward--don't ruminate on the fact that you had a smoke--rather think about not being able to drink -at least for now and back to quit business as usual--ok luv? xxx MmeT

Hi Jess,

Thank you for being so honest,💖

It takes a huge amount of courage to do that.....you have a learnt a massive lesson....the biggest thing that brings you undone is drinking...this is the biggest challenge for most as we loose our ability to stay totally in control.....

NExt time your on a BIG night.....get your friends to help you stay smoke free..no matter how much you beg them 😜😜

Chin up.....and keep on going...... One little blip.....lesson learned.....move on 😀😀💖💖💖

yeah i definitely will, i think i am going to avoid boozy nights out for a little while! which is annoying because i love going out :( xx

Well done jess for getting back on track next time you go for a drink have a nope sticker attached to the bottom of your glass just to remind you whenever you take a sip :-D

jessrudd12 profile image

in reply to jessrudd12

As a saying goes: if you fail - try, try, try again.

If you smoke, that means that you think that smoking has some positive function to you. Think about what you believe you are getting from smoking. Once you have your reasons why you smoke write down why you it is not true.

In order for your quit to be successful you need to truly understand that smoking has no positive effect for you. That's like in order to be able to drive you need to finish driving school so you can understand the logic behind your actions.

I would say preparation is even more important than putting down cigarette. Your mind is a powerful tool and addiction is all in your head. That's my take on this.
