I hadn't last cigarette on Sunday night..... So I've managed nearly 5 full days. I can't say that I'm feeling the benefits yet but I'm not stinking and my hair smells nice all the time!! I'm on the nicoret patches... So far so good .... Thinking of getting a vape.... What do you think ?

Awesome Quit Ryan👏👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Well done Jackie - 5 days is great - i quit cold turkey and my personal view is that vaping just keeps mr Nic at the door, BUT, many members on this site have used e-cigs, so they can probably comment more on the benefits.

Madame Tobacco posted a very nice post on the health improvements over time, which are not always that tangible but i felt improvements after about 2-3 weeks with breathing, no more smokers cough, less SOB with day to day activity and lets not forget the money - i have saved about £500 since i quit. Well done, you got this 👍

Hi ya Jackiejax :) and a big warm welcome to our lovely quit support community :)

I'm loving your quit, your doing ever so well :) :) so your using the patches to help you, these are excellent :) but maybe sometimes we need a bit of that extra ermmm, kick up the bum eh :o :D

If you feel the need for that extra kick, then please feel free to try the E-cig, Inhalator, Lozenges, Gum, Mouth spray etc, cos they will give you that bit extra at them hard times :) :)

Jackie, your in the very early stages of quitting smoking, soooo, please dont expect tooooo many benefits yet :o Just please be patient and they will come :) :) Plus you have said yourself, your hair smells nice now :) soooo, that means you smell nice too eh :) :) and of course, HOW much money have you saved :o :) :)

Jackie, if your using a PC, then please have a read through the Pinned Posts to your right :) if your on a mobile device, then just scroll down from here and you will come to them :) :)

Please keep intouch and we will help you to get where you want to be :) and thats smokefree :) :)

Pete :)

Hi Jackie I have used an e-cig since stopping which will be 2 weeks tomorrow and find it easier than any other NRT that I have used.

My plan initially is to use this to get the toxins out of my body and to get out of the habit of I will just have a cig then do that. This is working because I use it as I would a piece of gum or I know some have used mouth spray. I was in doubt about using it because of bad press but have since heard they are 95% better than cigarettes which in my opinion can only be a good thing. Yes you still need willpower and I seem to be experiencing similar symptoms to others on here but it works for me.

Everyone is different and some will not agree with them but to be honest if I was sat here saying I have quit for 2 weeks with patches I think I would be more proud of myself than using an e-cig if that makes sense.

Hope this helps and good luck your doing great :-)

Hi Jackie, a big welcome, well done on 5 days :) it's hard and you have done brill. , one day at a time . I have quit with the e cig, tried several times and failed with other NRT . I only use now when need and on omg nicotine. So I will say whatever keeps you off the cigs go for it :) . We are all different and . I smoked for 30 odd years, and this is the longest I have succeeded . So if you feel that is the best option it's your choice. It's very early days so be prepared for the ups and downs, it's defo a roller coaster, but well worth it , I feel great now and glad I have done it. Stay strong and shout out if you need support. You can do it xxxx

Well done on your 5 days quit, terrific🚭👍🏼

The patches are very good and if ya need a little something extra, there's plenty of options available. The most important thing is staying smokefree and you've made the best decision for your future health.

Stay positive and we say NOPE not one puff ever🚭

Hi Jacky and welcome to this wonderful on line community ands quit family :)

ditto to all the above and only thing I can add is if/when craving hits, log on here if you can, helps to pass the 'moment' :D :D and if you can't there's loads of advice on here for other ways of dealing with those 'moment' but deep breaths and NOPE can also do it :)

And I totally agree with Maddy's reply, if you feel vaping would/could/will stop you smoking a ciggie than it is far far (95%) less harmful than smoking nicotine (or herbal or any kind of burning) and has been shown to have helped a lot of people stop smoking. In the not too distance future vaping will become available on the NHS as a NRT to help people stop smoking. :) :)

At 5 weeks quit I got some no nicotine e liquid (used Champix to help me stop) and that really helped me get past my previous best 5/6 week of stopping smoking (3 previous attempts), as it's not just the nicotine we're quitting but so many associations/routines/habits etc. so I say whatever gets you through - so long as it ain't lighting up!! Just say NOPE :) :) xx

hi Jackie well done 😊 on your 5 day quit! I have now been cigarette free for 5weeks and 3 days and I have been vaping, I know for a fact I couldn't have got through one day cold turkey so I am feeling very proud of myself! 😊 I have already gone down a stage in the strengths of liquid and my plan is to get to zero mg and then ditch the vaping. Keep strong it does get easier!!! 😊

I'm loving the way your thinking, you just cut down the strength of your e-liquid when you feel positive and strong :) :)

Netty, please let me know your quit date, then I can keep your Winners badge upto date for you :)

hi monky my quit date was the 5th April, cant actually believe I have done this well myself! This community has been a great help to me over the last 5 weeks, I don't post much but just knowing that other people are going through the same as you has been a great comfort and given me lots of strength when the urges have been strong. 😊😊

Congrats Jackie 👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉 you're in the hardest month.... I was so physically ill for a month being in withdrawal.... Headaches, nausea, sore muscles, back pain etc etc so if you're not feeling so well or any better now , that's totally normal 😊 Not one puff❤️🇨🇦👍🏻 that 1 puff will get us hooked again😡
