in reply to droopyJ

Using lozenges and gum...

Sometimes the NRT products can give you heart burn there are some posts on here that tell you some of the symptoms of giving up.... Have a mooch around ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done Rachel on your first week, that is awesome๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Don't be too concerned about the heartburn as it is quite a common symptom of recovery. I had it when I quit, lasted about a month then just vanished ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Keep up he great quit you have going

Aup Rachel, thats just flippin fantastic gal :) am loving it, loving it, loving it :) :) and YES, you be chuffed with yourself and flippin PROUD too gal :) :) I tell ya :)

Now, what I want you to do is go and treat yourself to something really nice :) cos then, this will get sort of lodged into your brain that not only is your body getting healthier, BUT, also you get nice little treats tooo :) :) If that makes sense to you :o

Rachel, I'm very sorry :( but I had your quit date down as the 7th August, look gal, am an ole boy getting now and only have one brain cell see :o soooo, I do apologise and all has been corrected now :) :)

Ermmm, if you feel the need to punish me in any way :o then feel free to do so, I will take it like a monkey :| BUT, you got a catch me first seeeee :P :D :D

Rachel, your doing just fine gal you really are :) and as for your heart burn :o like Glolin has said, it is a common side affect especially with the lozenges and gum :o but, as your body gets used to them, this should get a lot easier for you :)

Stay strong and remember NOPE, Not One Puff Ever :) :)

Thank you all for your lovely encouraging words ๐Ÿ˜Š. This site is cracking ๐Ÿ˜. Monky, I shall bear no grudge that you couldn't read my mind and got my quit date wrong...and I shall treat myself to something. Maybe I'll sell one of the kids on ebay and treat myself to ten minutes peace and quiet...maybe sell the husband too...this could work for me ๐Ÿ˜

Any good suggestions will be gratefully accepted but have to say I've already tried eBay and I even offered free mince pies with him last Christmas and still no takers๐Ÿ˜ฉ so it's a work in progress๐Ÿ˜‰x

Whoohoo Grenada 17 months is fantastic...๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰. Sorry about your badge, I'm sure mister monky will be around later to rectify that for you ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

How have you been getting on with your quit ??๐Ÿ˜‰

Grenada1 profile image
Grenada117 Month Winner in reply to droopyJ

Apart from a weight gain it has been fairly easy. I first smoked when I was 16 and gave up when I wanted to start a family; not smoking for 26 years!!!! Then various happenings had me smoking again but that won't happen again. I will not smoke again. :)

:P :P :D :D :D xx

Ooooh!! This is harsh!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€. Monky, you take the abuse quite well so I can only guess that you're used to it... ladies, I'm glad I'm not alone in my pain ๐Ÿ˜. My beloved husband started Champix over two weeks ago, determined to stop and has carried on smoking. Can't help but hate him ever so slightly as I was going to stop after him...now look at the situation I'm in! Lightweight that he is ๐Ÿ˜. Oh, for a dirty fag...

monky profile image
monkyAdministrator35 Months Winner in reply to

Hi Rachel :) yep am used to all this abuse I get off these Ladies on here, cos maybe I ermmmmm, take the micky out of em see :o :D :D

Rachel, you say your hubby is on champix :o well, I've used champix a couple of years ago and it worked really well for me :) after about 12 days, I went from smoking 40 odd a day to 9 :o then, I thought this is it :) time to stop altogether :) and I did :)

There are very very good write ups for champix :) and if I hadnt got cocky and cut the course in half, then I would have been quit for at least 2 years now :)

Rachel, please ask hubby if they have cut him down any ?? and if he is taking them :o

Champix works on your nicotine receptors in your brain and kind of numbs them :) soooo, after about 10 - 12 days in, you just dont need nicotine any more :) hence, you dont need to smoke :) BUT, saying that, we are all different and we take different times to appreciate the advantage :o

monky profile image
monkyAdministrator35 Months Winner in reply to

Rachel, your doing extremely well on your quit :) :) sooo please dont let hubby misguide you into smoking again eh :o :)

BE STRONG and show him that you CAN DO IT :) :) sooo, your flippin BOSS Lady around here :) :) but saying that, maybe encourage him a bit eh :) :) Please, please dont have a go at him, cos he will just dig his heels in more :o

If he hasnt quit by this time next week, then there is something wrong :o

Rachel, please remember NOPE, Not One puff Ever :) :)

Take care and hope to see's ya soon :) :) x

Ah Monky... We've both done the Champix before...quit for 12 weeks...then he ended up in hospital and we both started again ๐Ÿ˜. This time however, I've done it without champix and as much as I don't want to sound cocky, I don't want to smoke...just got to find another crutch. Hubby has lost a family member through suicide this week so think his plans of stopping have been put to one side ๐Ÿ˜”. Poor lamb ๐Ÿ˜ข. He's come off the champix for now, I'm just gonna try and get him to go see his smoking nurse when he can and hope things ease up...and hope to God that sleep returns to me before old age!!!

Rachel, you are doing ever soo well and I bow down to you for going cold turkey gal I really doo :) :) Maybe have a look at the breathing exercises to the right of your post, under Pinned Posts, cos this could help you to sleep :) :)
