The pandemic probably encouraged me to quit after around 45 years of smoking. Watching how this nasty virus causes people to struggle for oxygen so much so many needed to be mechanically ventilated was quite scary. One of my smoking related favourite sayings used to be ‘quitting smoking is easy - I’ve done it loads of times!’ Out of 3 major quit attempts I’m absolutely determined that this is the ‘one’.

The benefit of having previous attempts allows you to learn what works for you. In my case NRT was important - Nicorette Quickmist Spray was good for the initial acute cravings along with the gum ‘fresh mint’ . Also I signed up for quit support via my local authority Smoke Free Service which included the support of an advisor for 3 months and who sent the NRT prescriptions to my Chemist for collection. The SmokeFree app was very handy too.

I thought I’d dip into HealthUnlocked ’s Quit Support to help keep me on track! I enjoy the friendly banter and non-judgemental attitude and encouragement of the Admin team as well as all the helpful advice and info!

Will be marking my 5 month milestone soon!

COVID-19 has probably helped reaffirm my unbridled determination to quit for good!
