Great to find this forum as I am the Worlds worst at doing anything for my core so guided by a fellow runner I am now doing 1 minute of plank and 1 minute of lunges with weights a day. Puny I know but its better than NOTHING!! I am now on day 5. I will report on my progress...

What is everyone else doing and has it made a difference?

try out these workouts free on youtube. Jessica is really great and they will help core strength. I started these in january when I was on the Injury couch (sprained ankle) The upper body workouts were brilliant. I have even bought light weights.

I'm a big believer in baby steps.  i always start the week telling myself one session is better than non and then build on that.  If I don't do all of them at least I have done some of them.  That's why I hoping 5x50 will just focus me a little more. 1 minute of planking is great,  I'm still to add them in maybe I'll start with 5 seconds every session it's got to be better than not trying.

Yeah, I agree, it's getting the level of comfort/versus pushing a bit further that I always struggle with. If I manage to get that right (and get on a roll) then everything is good. It's those first few weeks that are the hardest though.

have a look also at runwaterloo.com/the-big-3-e...

and also from Stuart McGill

He is the man I talked about who has studied WHY you dont NEED to do long extended versions of the plank..

This morning's session was 5 sets of: 30 Hollow Rocks, 30 second Hollow Rock hold, 30 Arch Rocks, 30 sec AR hold, 30 Hollow/Arch swings on the bar.

Then we did a whole bunch of weights stuff and finished with 5 sets of: 1 min skipping, 30 situps, 30 pushups.

this is a good website for finding correct form for exercises:

Only if you did it without saddles

mostly, these was lots of riding no saddle and it did hurt

try taking the saddle off completely. It is great motivaton to keep you standing in the pedals. You certainly don't slump more than once.

Actually 'Limpcore' sounds like a genre of not very loud music. The antithesis of hardcore.
