My precious mum

My mum passed away this afternoon. It was so sudden that despite knowing it was inevitable, it was still a horrible shock. She was the most loving mother anyone could have wished for and my heart is breaking. I loved her so very much and she leaves a gaping hole even though she has been a shadow of herself for so many years. There is a sense of relief in knowing that she is no longer suffering the pain and indignity of PSP but it doesn't make it any easier. We are just very grateful that it was extremely quick and peaceful. I wanted to share on here as I have had so much support over the years from wonderful people on this site.

We are losing so many friends on here at the moment. We all know the inevitability but are hit hard when it happens. Frank, like your mum went so suddenly at the end. Big gaps in our lives but no more seeing our loved ones suffer and I am taking comfort in that .

Hi Cate, sorry to hear your mum has passed. I am glad it was peaceful and quick. It will make things a little more bearable as time goes on. I feel your loss -it is only a week since my mum went. I do miss her but I am glad she is no longer suffering, as you are with your mum. Take care, thinking of you.

Cate, Sorry for the loss of your mother. Her healing is complete now and your's can begin. It's a process I've been through years ago. I can tell you the memories, good ones, will be with you always and can't be overshadowed by whatever memories PSP brought. The years before PSP and those memories far, far, far, outweigh those brought by this dreadful disease. Your mom would want you to now take care of yourself, pamper yourself, and enjoy life.

God Bless, Jimbo

Thank you each and every one for your messages. They are all special and mean so much at this time. Only those on here truly know the reality of living with PSP. It has been a very tough journey but we have wonderful memories even from during the illness. Nothing seems to make it easier, not really even knowing she is free and at peace, but those who understand are so important.

Dear CateT

I dont know whether I sent a message to you last year or not Cate, but I remember reading your post about your mum passing away early one morning, and I cried for you and for all she had to go through with PSP. I have always been thinking of you since and just wanted to put a message out to you, as I know it must be coming up to a year now. My mum still is with us, she has been in the nursing home 18 months now. Her MSA (multiple system atrophy) is getting worse and she is now hoisted out of bed and into her electric chair, but she is more in bed that out. Her voice is almost gone but she is fighting to hold on to it. The nurses have implied that anything could happen at any time, but she is def a fighter. Thank you for all the support you continue to give to us all Cate, you are a lovely person. Much love from me, Clara XXX
