Hi Ray,

Have you tried aqueous cream? It works the same as E45 cream but it is much cheaper. I think a large tub (500g) is about £3. You can get it from Boots/Tesco. It works wonders!

My dad suffers from a lot of dry skin problems too.

Mum gets dry skin too, particularly behind her ears and on her scalp. Sis washes her hair with baby shampoo which helps a little.

hi jillann,

hope your keeping well i think the dry skin must be

caused by the psp/cbd if not the tablets that we stuff

down our throats each and every day , thanks for the

Hi Ray,

There's also a range of products called Phyto (shampoo) which again you can buy in Boots. It's a bit expensive but if you have dry skin on your scalp, Phyto is really good. One small bottle costs about £10-£15 but it soothes the scalp, so worth the additional cost.

Hi Ray,

Because you have a long term condition you should get free prescriptions. If you do your GP should be able to prescribe the aqueus cream and a medicated shampoo. If you are not currently receiving free prescriptions it might be worth looking into:

Hi Ray - Eucerin cream in the tub, available over the counter, very heavy but helped my Mom - as time went on she would unknowingly fidget with the dry skin so keeping it in check is important. Good luck with all...Kathy

Hi Friends,

I use Alovera products which i get in Holland and Barrett, and health stores or chemists. These are over the counter so sometimes there are offers and i stock up. Mums skin is like a baby all over i put the gel from top to toe...

I also use Johnson's lotions and also and comb them through her hair. Mum looks better that me... while some oils are good i worry about her touching the oil and then maybe it would go in her eyes or mouth. so whats good for a baby is great for a nana... Valerie xxx

for babys so they should be good enough for me as well take

Hi Ray

My husband has cbd and also has a problem with dry skin in his ears and on his head. The skin splits and bleeds especially at night. What meds are you on for CBD? I wonder if the skin thins as a result of the disease but would be interested to know whether you are on the same meds as him. He thinks it could be caused by Citalopram which he takes to lift his mood. We have found a good cream let me know if you want details

Hi linney,

Nice to meet you linney the meds i take are celecoxib for arthritis which

i have in my wrist shoulder and neck, solifenacin for over active bladder,

Co-careldopa (sinemet 12.5 mg) and Ropinirole a lot of the creams that

the gps give you now contain steroids which thins the skin any way, i dont

take any meds for my mood swings i have holistic therapy which works

wonders it destresses you it stops mood swings its nearly stopped my

tremor in my right arm and it keeps me in a positive frame of mind, the

therapy i have is called Emotional Freedom Technique and i see a great

lady therapist called karen who treats me with the utmost respect ,if you

dont mind me asking when was your husband diagnosed with cbd i was

49 when i was diagnosed which was 4 years ago, i would be very greatfull

if you could let the details of the cream, And if you ever need some one to

talk to im allways here take care,

Hi Ray

My husband was also 49 when he was diagnosed and was told he would only survive for 2 years, however, that was 10 years ago now and he is still going strong. He has kept positive and he got a job as a projectionist at the local small cinema and he does voluntary work at the local furniture scheme. I think these things have certainly helped him. He takes aricept for the dementia part of the cbd as well as the anti-depressant. I feel he was pressured into taking that and now can't get off it. He also takes a sleeping tablet to ease the agitation he has at night. The CBD has affected his left side and therefore he struggles to walk and was in a wheelchair at one point but then joined a slimming club and shed 3 stone and now although he gets weary walking he doesn't use the wheelchair any more. The cream is called Infinite Aloe and is obtainable from ebay (cheapest) by typing "new infinite aloe".

hi linney,

nice to here from you when i was diagnosed they told me i would

probley last about 15 years but i will wait and see, glad your husband

can still work i was told to stop work by the neurologist because of my

balance problems and dizzy spells, i go for a short walk most days but

get very tired i am still allowed to drive at the moment but that will probley

change soon i have a adapted mobility car so i have a bit of independence

the cbd has affected my right side so i cant write unless i use the laptop

which i would be lost without, staying positive is the best way to fight

this diseases it no good mowping about worring about whats going

to happen i dont want to take anti-depressant thats why i have holistic

therapy every tuesday it works for me i sleep quit well at nights at the

moment i think thats down to the therapy as well i know the cbd is getting

worse but i will find out when i see the neurologist in a couple of weeks

you take care and give my best to your husband

My husband suffers from dry skin. I went on a carers course with the St Johns Ambulance and at a meeting a company were giving sample to a gel and shampoo called double base I have now managed to get this from our Dr on perscription. everything that could be bought over the counter we have tried, I have spent a fortune but this one seems to work, but I have to be honest we get it under control and then it breaks out again.

ray-wiffen-1958 profile image
ray-wiffen-1958
