My wife Pat DEAN passed away last night after ten years of difficulties. Your comments and advise was very helpful over the years. I wish you all the best in this horrible journey and hope for a cure for you all. Thankyou again.

Am so sorry for your loss, husband of Pat Dean! You will need to take some time out to grieve in a little while when life gives you the time.
I found this initial period chaotic and so busy, and could not wait to be on my own. When I was on my own, life was empty. That is the time to fill it with happy memories of your times together - in sickness and in health - and to pick up the threads again, as you learn to make your own way ahead alone.
It takes time but there are many here who have weathered the storm - so you will eventually do so too.
Take time out, grieve, learn to relax in the quiet and reconnect with old friends and pastimes you have not had time for!
Go gently and go well.

I wish you comfort and strength during this transition time. It’s so hard to realize that it’s over, but I saw this saying recently:
‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. ‘
And remember the good times before your wife became ill those memories will sustain you.
I totally agree with you that this site is a source of help and support for those of us who care for our loved one with this terrible disease.
Hugs to you
Caroline

Husband of Pat,
I am so sorry for your loss. I wish you peace and serenity in the days ahead. Know that you did your job and did it well. Now you have to keep moving. Grieve, but try to spend as much remembering the good times as you do grieving. And keep moving. Reach out to family and friends, travel if you can. Be kind to yourself and take peace in knowing that Pat is no longer suffering from this horrible disease.
Take care my friend.
Dick
