Hi,

I don’t tend to post anything but my mum’s condition feels like it’s entering the difficult phase. Frankly I could handle the lack of mobility but to loose my Mum as a person (virtually overnight) is upsetting and worrying.

I wanted to know whether anyone here (whether for CBD or PSP) has taken Epilim (sodium valproate) and whether you’ve noticed an increase in sleep and confusion?

Mum has CBD.

Thanks,

Erial why is she taking that drug? I have looked it up and confused as it is usually used for seizures. Is she suffering from them? This drug would possibly make her tired and confused.

Also your Mother is still definitely there. She understands you even if you don't understand her. You need to tell her you love her and give her hugs. This will help her and you too especially when she is no longer here.

I am assuming her doctor has prescribed these tablets but they are not usual for either PSP or CBD as far as I am aware. Does she suffer from seizures? Can't see any other reason for her being on this drug. Maybe time to ask the neurologist why he has prescribed them?

Dad had CBD and I've never heard of Epilim.

2 months ago our doctor changed my husband’s medications. He had been taking a heavy dose of an antidepressant for severe depression. He’d been on the same antidepressant for years and years and I was very nervous about weaning him off of it. We introduced a low dosage of a different antidepressant once he was weaned off of the old one.

The first few weeks I felt like there was a huge improvement. Like he reverted back to where he was a year before the confusion ever started. It was wonderful to have a normal conversation and to witness him do simple tasks that 3 weeks prior he couldn’t do. I was amazed at what a difference a change in medication could make!

Unfortunately it was short lived.

Yesterday and today... I’ve noticed that he’s back in the state he was in before any changes in medication were made. I don’t understand it. I will tell you though... I am convinced that the RIGHT medications can make a difference. The flip side is so can the WRONG medication.

This doesn’t answer any questions about Epilim but you brought up medication and I’m struggling with this. We see the doctor again before the end of November. No doubt we’ll be changing or adding to the cocktail again 😱

Hi,

She was prescribed it at Queens Square the neuro Hospital in London. I don’t doubt their knowledge and it has very much helped with the spasms on her left side but she’s undoubtedly become very confused the more she increased the dose to the ‘desired’ amount.

However it could just be the condition that is causing her confusion. I feel she’s pretty much fine during the day but the more tired she gets the worse she becomes. Luckily our January appointment at queens square has been brought forward from Jan to the end of this month so at least we can discuss with professionals. Our gps are not helpful whatsoever. Thanks for your comments!
