Medication help

Hello I'm looking for advice. My mum has CBD and has lately been forgetting to take her medication. I can't be with her 24/7 and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on reminding her to take them when she's on her own

FaceTime her and watch her take it.

My wife has CBD latter stages. She is fed by tube and medicines are also administered via the tube (my job). As she is currently only on Baclofen and Senna morning and evening. So I can give her them and don't have to worry about the rest. She is though on some controlled drugs which are administered via a syringe driver. District nurses look after that. There is another alternative I think doctors can prescribe slow release medicines which can take the worry out of administration. Discuss it with your mum's doctor. Your problem is not uncommon. Best wishes. Ken.

Does she have a smartphone? If so you could set multiple alarm times as a reminder. Another option would be an alarm clock with multiple alarms. You could also just call and remind her if you can't be there.

Was going to suggest multiple alarms. Would suggest a wristwatch as she can't lose that as easily as phone, etc. Facetime would also help you if your mum can do that. Or you have the alarm and ring her to remind her!

It isn't easy!! Another thing to remember in a busy schedule! You will work it out!

I’m a community Matron . There are lots of things you can get to help. There are Dossette type boxes that can be set to alarm and ping open at specific times. There are alert systems that relay a message at certain times. You could record a message such as ‘ mum it’s time for your medication’ Blister packs may not prompt at specific times but they are useful to check if tablets have been taken. Call your mums gp surgery and ask them to refer to district nurses and occupational therapy. Our OT has a wealth of knowledge around these things.
