my hero Geoff

we had geoffs funeral yesterday his regiment prince of wales own arranged for him to have all the standards at his funeral they played the last post and he was given a wonderful send off the church was packed and his medals and beret was on his coffin it broke me up I am so proud of him and so lost without him he never once complained about his illness and he smiled to the end my heart is broken the family have been and still are taking care of me he is buried close by and that gives me some comfort but I still think he is coming home I am sure with time you learn to accept being alone and when you are lucky enough to have such a good family you have to count your blessings I want to thank you all for your support and shoulders to cry on I had a lovely letter from the psp association today its where our collection from the church will go they have also been very helpful I would like to stay with this site because you are all such lovely people thanks to you all doreen

Aw Doreen,

I'm so proud of you. The send off sounds lovely and though sad, you have a family to support you. We should all be that lucky. Alas, I await the future with dread. I'll look back to your example. Please do stay on the website. We still need you.

It sounds a wonderful send off.

I have found memories of Chris' funeral a great comfort and I'm sure you will too.

Your family will be such a support in the difficult time to come.

Souns like a wonderful sendoff. Hope you can rest and take time to grieve now. Have a good cry and remember how he was, not how he had become.

Yes, I had dreams that my love had come home. It was a strange feeling as I could not view them with joy as I did not wish him any more life as he had become. Then I found a photo hidden on my camera memory, taken Christmas before he died and he was smiling, something he rarely did latterly! Is a comfort each time I find it!

Dear Doreen,

I'm so glad the service did him justice, and as Jean says, you'll have good memories of all the love and support that was shown there. I'm glad you're going to keep checking in here: the family members who have lost a loved one to PSP or CBD and still stay on have much to offer the members who need their experience. You're still one of us!!

A wonderful send off for the man you loved and will still love. You are lucky as I am to have a family who will care for you. For those of us who have lost our loved ones we know it’s time to take a step back and recall all the happy times that were shared together. Take care. Love Jxx

PSP is a long journey for most of us when we grieve for the loved one we have lost although they are still here and then we grieve all over again when they have gone - a double whammy. Like you I am blessed with 2 wonderful children who are keeping my head above water throughout this and I have no doubt that your family will be there for you on this next journey, ready with a lifeline when you need it. I have no meaningful words to offer that will help you right now as it's such a personal journey but my heart does go out to you and the tears came readily reading your post and I know only too well that I will be where you are right now at some point. Be proud that you cared for your husband so well - there will be joy in your life again as time rolls on, it's just the getting there that's the hard bit. HilsandR
