Check the side effects on any medication he is taking. One my husband took, I can’t remember which, had the same effect on him with very frequent erections at inappropriate times. We made a joke of it but once off the medication it stopped. The same medication said he could become addicted to gambling. He didn’t but he did start showing compulsive behaviour ie, constantly checking the boiler and water heater pressures. Again this stopped once the medication did, which wasn’t having any beneficial affect on him anyway.

Increased libido, including hypersexuality, is known to be a side effect of carbidopa-levodopa, also known as Sinemet

Yikes Teresa, Sinemet is what the neurologist wants my husband to start taking in the next few weeks and he has written to our GP advising of this. I've read quite a few posts that said Sinemet hasn't been effective for PSP patients but how do I relate this to the GP. Nanny857

My husband seems like he's in the ozone w/o the sinemet ~ we think think it's helping him - different for everyone!!! I remember waiting for the side-effects that , luckily, never came.

this is what they have put my Hubby on, I have told the Specialist Nurse that he isn't having any marked side effects but they are also not doing him any good, I hope when we go back to see the Specialist in April he will try him on something else x

Forgive me, but I am chuckling...I say enjoy it while you can. There may come a time...

My thoughts exactly, Christine. I lived in hope, but Steve never "suffered" from this effect!!!

I hope I haven't offended you ABC, I'm sure it's not funny. Is he on Simemet? Try fiddling with the amount he is taking. I was always altering the amount Steve took. It never did any good, but I could alway tell, if I had cut it down too much.

Lots of love

Anne

Hi abc-def

If your husband feels like sharing some of it, he can send it my way lol. Then I might be able to scratch off another item on my bucket list. Can't say that Sinemet has had the increased libido side effect that some have stated... I'll ask my neurologist for a stronger dosage lol.

Chris took sinemet throughout without any noticeable sexuality change !

After all the comments we will give it a try and see what happens if at all anything!!

Sinemet never really did anything for dad that was noticeable, until dosage was increased to much and hallucinations started. He was then slowly taken off it completely.
