Well, after three days, Charles pulled out the catheter. I woke up to him standing at the end of his bed with blood everywhere! So much for the catheter.
He is now better and only a bit of blood here and there but what an experience. PSP is so much fun fun fun. GRRRR.

Yikes! Is that part of the exhaustion of caring for someone with PSP - the alarm when something unexpected happens and you think, "Oh crap - what am I supposed to do now?"...?

Would you be able to catherize C every 3 hours to drain the bladder? That way you have no indwelling catheter, but no accidents. As you know my hubby does his own catherizing, but I imagine C is beyond doing this.
Omg! I remember heady talking about this before, the blood is something they don’t tell you about!! How stupid is that? Must have frightened the living daylights out of both of you?! You’re doing a marvellous job coping Cuttercat, here here! 👏 x
Scary or what! It's amazing what we and they have to endure along this storey road. Glad he's feeling a bit better if a little sore. Is it back to pads?

What are convenes ?
It is like a condom which lets the urine flow into a bag. Its great when it works. It meant we were able to go out without worries. At night he often pulled it off in the early morning. Worth trying before a catheter. We never used a catheter.

😱 How scary that must have been for you. Like Dodlington we had pulled off convenes but far less dramatic. I told C I’d make him wear boxing gloves in bed, he couldn’t fiddle then. I didn’t of course but it made us both laugh picturing it. Perhaps you could try threatening Charles with boxing gloves if the catheter has to be refitted. It may bring on a smile if nothing else.

Hopefully, this will have frightened Charles and if they fit another one, he will leave it alone. Steve was always fiddling, but ended up in hospital as he got his foreskin stuck. They had to manhandle it back into place. It would have been very funny, had he not been in so much pain. First a very large make doctor tried, then an extremely pretty young female consultant did the final deed! Never touch the catheter again. Most constructive visit to the hospital. Solved one of PSP horrors.

We had awful problems with my mam and the catheter. She was retaining her urine and it was decided she needed a catheter she pulled it out at least once a night. Eventually it was decided she no longer needed it. We never found out why she kept doing this xxxx
Cuttercut you deserve a medal. Thank goodness I didn't have to face that. G had convenes, and all was fine until about a month or so before he died when he started to pull them off. I hope Charles doesn't decide to do it again. All if this is so exhausting isn't it?
