Well today started off ok, but this afternoon George was lifting himself nearly out of the chair in terrible pain, just like the pain he had a couple of weeks ago, when he went into hospital, I thought here we go again, phoned up GP they sent doctor out, she wanted to phone for an ambulance and send George to hospital, could not believe it, told her I did not think his catheter was draining? She said after a while ok I will get the DN out to change his catheter, beyond me why doctor could not do it? DN came changed the catheter, as soon as she changed it George was fine, so happy 😊 we did not need to go to the hospital. we had to change all the bed, and his clothes, he was sweating soon much with the pain. Managed to feed him some soup, had his medication and he is sleeping. From 3 o'clock until 7 o'clock he was in really bad pain, beyond me why the doctor could not off just changed the catheter and not put him through more pain. I am going to bed hopefully will get some 😴 sleep. Love to you all it has been very quiet lately. Big hugs Yvonne xxxx

Yvonne, that really stinks. Poor George. I sometimes wonder if they know what they are going. I am still going nuts without Don, it hurts so much. Love back and big hugs.

It's awful seeing someone helplessly in pain. I hope you are getting some sleep, Yvonne, and George stays more comfortable. Love, ec

That must be very scary Yvonne and you do wonder why docs can't do these things but maybe best the DN does it as she is well practiced in the art. Bet you were both shattered after the ordeal fingers crossed for a quieter time for you both.

Love and hugs

Dear Yvonne I equally have no idea why this stupid gp couldn't do the catheter and in fact why he wanted a hospital visit?! Sounds like another shit GP to me! I'm pleased though that the problem was eventually sorted but very sorry that George had to go through this! Can't imagine it did your stress levels any good either?! Hugs x

Oh poor George I hope things are better for him now. My best friend's husband has the same problem and they have been given a phone number to ring and a DN comes out straight away. I hope they have given you a number too. Take care

Hi Yvonne, it's not really a surprise that the GP was incapable of changing a Catether. I think the only thing they know how to do, is phone for an ambulance. Certainly wouldn't have wanted Steve's GP anywhere near his Catether. Have you not got the DN's direct number? I would just keep phoning them now, or Rapid Response, if they operate in your area. They will always call out a doctor or get George into hospital if it's something else. In my experience doctors always start from the most serious thing that could be wrong, whilst a nurse starts at the most obvious and simplest cause, which 9/10 is the correct one.

My heart goes out to you Yvonne. Sending all the cuddles I can and much love with them.

Lots of love

Anne

How horrible for you both. I agree Dr should have changed it but in today's world each person has their job and no one does what isn't their job even though it would be faster and better for the patient. It's a shame. Glad it's resolved and he's feeling better though. Hope you both got some sleep. Hugs

Good thing he has you in his conner.Hope you both had a good sleep.
