I now have a hard time to get out of bed and am taking too much prescribed and over the counter meds. Need more all the time. I also am turned around, sleeping in the day and awake all night.

Hi, Robnorm. I sorry you are suffering so. You have psp? Are you in the UK? When were you diagnosed? Are you on your own? Wishing you comfort, Easterncedar

Hi Robnorm

I won't duplicate ec's post.

Sorry to hear you are struggling so much.

I will wait for your reply to ec.

But a thought... You might want to get a full medication review. There is a tendency for Drs to keep adding medications and failing to stop others that are no longer needed.

Liz, my wife, regularly get's old ones stopped when they are no longer doing what they were prescribed for originally, but that has always been at our instigation. Sometimes we titrate one down just to see. Titrate down means to lower the dose in small increments. Its best done under Dr supervision and check what the side effects are when reducing and how long they last. So when reducing Citalopram for example you might expect agitation. Hold it for ten days at the lower dose and that goes and you can see how you are on that.

By doing this we have kept the drowsiness to a minimum.

Oh, I said I would stand off until you replied to ec - sorry.

Hope it is useful though.

I hope it gets a little better for you.

Best wishes

Kevin

Sorry you are going through this. I deal with depression too, have dealt with it my whole life. Please see a doctor ASAP and discuss all of this. There is help out there but you need to get the right help for YOU.

I want to tell you robnorm, that i echo what has already been said. Since you did not explain your medical situation, I can only urge you to go to the dr and get that full medical review. There are several reasons for sleeplessness. And You must find out what your reasons are.....go to the doctor now....
