Has anyone tried AeroSure?

I just saw a commercial on AeroSure a device claiming to help respiration and elimination of excessive mucus. It is not targetting PSP Patients for sure (too small a population) but this is for sure a problem for PSP patients, at least with my wife.

Before going ahead, I would be interested if anyone has heard of that or even better has ever tried it!

I looked on areosure web site , I have seen this advertised in magazines before , when I go out tomorrow I will ask the pharmacist if he has an information about this item. Brenda.

Interesting. Looks like it would be beneficial. On a side note, I was always looking for a smaller handheld device that could be used for suctioning excess saliva from the mouth, versus the huge device with the large canister. I never could find anything on the market. I did buy and try a small device that is used to suction out the nose of an infant, but it just didn't have enough suction for an adult.

It looks like a respiratory doctor would be the one who could prescribe it. Medicare would most likely not pay for it (we have a fight getting food paid for ...enteral feedings) And I wonder if it would or could help those with the slowing response of the lungs...

I just up loaded(?) this from an aerosure site. I thought this was for who could use it,,,, it's actually WHO CANNOT use this. Those who :

Have epilepsy

Currently have or previously had Pneumothorax (collapsed lung)

Have haemodynamic instability (abnormally high or low blood pressure, very slow or very fast heart rate) including severe right-sided heart failure with hypotension

Currently have a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the blood vessels in the lungs)

Have oesophageal varices (enlarged veins in the walls of the oesophagus)

Have recently had thoracic (chest) or upper gastro-intestinal tract (duodenum, stomach, oesophagus) surgery or trauma until completely healed

Have acute sinusitis or an active nosebleed

Are experiencing active haemoptysis (coughing up blood)

Are pregnant

Have raised intracranial pressure (abnormally high pressure in the skull and brain)

If you are unsure of the suitability of AeroSure for you or are unsure about the cause of your symptoms, you should seek medical advice.

There is at least 6 reasons why this COULD work. If one has:

COPD

Cystic Fibrosis

Asthma

Bronchiectasis

Chronic heart failure

I dont' know if our loved ones with PSP slowed breathing response problems would be a good candidate for this product......

Please anyone let us know if this works for PSP related problems

I call in the chemists this morning , the pharmacist recommend speaking to the neurologist at the next appiontment. which is at the end of February, I will let you know what his answer.
