Oh Audrey. You are going through a terrible time. Hang on. You will get through. Try to rest while he is in rehab. Whatever comes next, you need to be as strong as possible. Hug, ec

Very glad to hear it. We all know we should take care of ourselves; Heaven knows no one else is going to. It is very hard to do, though, and then we break. So you, with your fractured back, just have to take it as easy as you can! Hugs to you. Gentle one So! Ec

So sorry to hear this Audrey but you can only do as much as your body will allow. That old saying "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" is very apt in all our cases, but specially yours right now. Be kind to yourself. It's nobody's fault but bloody PSP, excuse my language, so accept what has to be for now. God bless. Marie

I agree with all the others, you had NO choice. D will be fine, well cared for and safe, which at the present time is what he needs. Now you have this time to recover properly and then you will have the strength to carry on. I know this is extremely hard, but try and relax, accept what is going on. That is the quickest way to get D home again.

Sending big hug and lots of love

Sort out your back get fit and then hopefully you can get him back home. Do not beat yourself up (I know easy to say but really hard to do), he is safe and now it is your turn to get fit.

Best wishes for quick recovery, Tim

I agree with Heady. I had a non union fracture of the tibia and cracked fibula forb3 years while caring for bill Had no choice like you to get 24/7 care for him. Had to figure it was Gods plan. Killed me tho and I made sure the care was proper. It is what it is. PSP IS not contagious it just comes so for some reason our guys are the chosen ones. Know Bill went straight to heaven because of 6 years of suffering. Your guy will too in the mean time make sure his care is good hold him and tell him he is doing a great job of getting thriough this And that you love him and will forever. God bless. Many prayers.

Please Audrey be more forgiving with yourself. Sorry to tell you but you are only human !!!

You have done a great job and now need to step back and allow yourself to assess the situation. You have health problems.

Give yourself time. I know how hard it is.

A big hug, Jean xxx

abirke, He is a little better I think. Only there today for a very short time since my daughter who drove me there could not stay long. I can't drive because of my back. Have an apt with the surgeon Nov 9th I think. I was doing everything I should not have been doing trying to take care of D. I do not want to have surgery. Just wearing a brace, no rehab. I just want him back with me but he was getting progressively worse.

I know . B fell on me today trying to transfer from chair to chair I felt like a Rugby player we were shoulder to shoulder and I pressed him off of me without hurting my back......any weird turn and that would have been serious....don't want to do that again...

Well I pray all goes well with your surgery.....no picking him or anything else up !!!!

abirke, I don't know yet if I will have surgery. But with all of the things I was doing to help him, I know my back is not getting better. He signed a DNR today at the rehab. Made me cry even more. TY for the ((gentle hugs))

I know the DNR was hard. But you do know important it was to sign or not sign.....Do you have all those other forms in place as well?...the POA; (M)edical POA the Will etc...I have them fille d out but not signed or legalized or something....I would love to have just my kids no grand kids no daughter in laws and just have a family meeting....

abirke, he made out a will a long time ago but I haven't a clue where it is. I know he had it notorized. What is the difference between the DNR and the Medical POA? Power of Attorney?

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply to Auddonz

You have to have his will signed and witnessed at least. I think that is what D did. My kids had nothing to do with anything. I just made my will found a site called willing .com and you have the option of either having it witnessed and notorized or just witnessed. I just had it witnessed and was going to bring it to the bank so that they they would have a copy. Mine is just sitting on my desk. With my back and D being back in rehab I haven't been able to do anything.

abirke profile image
abirke in reply to Auddonz

His Dr should have the a copy of the DNR and i think the MPOA

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply to abirke

I will find out about that. TY

abirke profile image
abirke in reply to Auddonz

A DNR establishes one thing and that is that the patient does not want to be resuscitated if and when they stop breathing and or their heart stops. I think most DNR's state not to resuscitate if it would only prolong ...a poor quality of life...they say it differently but basically DNR is "let them die naturally" .

a MPOA designates a person (usually a loved one) to establish or confirm or enforce what type of care the patient wants or does not want if they become incapacitated ie coma. If there is an MPOA a DNR is probably in the directives already.... and remember a DNR still allows for medical care....

I( hope that makes sense...

AVB

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply to abirke

abirke, A DNR allows medical care. Like what?

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply to Auddonz

It does not make sense at all.

abirke profile image
abirke in reply to Auddonz

If you are being treated for any other ailment ie chemo for cancer, or anything that would prolong their life and even make them better. Therefore it allows for the patient to be taken care of in all manners. However if they stop breathing and or heart stops I think that's it! There may be levels of DNR like for instance if he gets stung by a bee and goes into shock...or the 02 tank was hose was kinked..etc...

a better resource would be to google DNR definition....DNR is only to help... usually the elderly.... to pass on naturally.

Google DNR you'll find what you are looking for...
