I think these words were written for me, and maybe you.

I was in our local shop today, looking for a card to send to my brother. I came across a card which I bought for myself as I thought the words very appropriate. I hope you feel the same.

Hang in there

When you're feeling overwhelmed

By anger or despair

It's hard to cope from day to day

And life can seem unfair.

But this won't last forever

Things will turn around

Then you will appreciate

The strength that you have found.

So treat yourself with kindness, surround yourself with calm

Call on friends who love you, and shield yourself from harm.

Then when this is over you'll look at life anew

Knowing you faced up to things

And courage saw you through

You can pull through this.

...........................................................

The card was designed by Dave Burge

I hope it gave you a feeling of peace as you read it, like it gave me.

That's what I thought Kate. It said who the card was designed by but I don't know if he wrote the verse as well as design the picture. I may try and do a Miss Marple and find out.

My friend and I were just talking about words of encouragement....I still have the first card she gave me... not quite as sweet as your card but just as heartfelt.....with a twist of comedy.....

Thankyou for sharing these heartfelt words of encouragement with us.....in order to write such words you have to experience the need.... Mr. Burge sounds like a man who understands first hand....

I like anything with a twist of comedy. Maybe you could post those words as well. I've tried an internet search on Mr Burge but not sure if he wrote the words or just designed the picture. It's a Paperhouse card so am going to see if I can contact them, as I have so much time to spare don't I 😆

True that!

Several weeks ago...my little neighbor had her second child. I bought a doll for the first child to have a baby of her own to take care of..a book on big sisters and things for new baby.....well I wanted to make bread for parents....tried my hand at pumpkin bread.....let me just predicate this with "I can't do much in the kitchen but ....clean the fridge when all the food stuffs I know I am going to eat this time goes yet again to waste....anyway so I made this bread.....it confirm my abilities in the kitchen..tasted like sand and soap! Maybe it would be a good exfoliate but anyway anyway...I realised the thing that I have that I can share is ...time.....the poor little dear had a C-section, another vibrant 3 year and a needy brand new one not to mention her husband!!! she invited me in and it looked like a bomb...It took me so back to my time with 3 kids under 4 and a bad time with my c section etc etc...my house was always a mess.....I told her , Honey it took me 25 years to get the house "clean" when the kids had all moved out....and it's only clean in specific areas...don't look in the closets!! All this said to say that I would like to offer her one thing that I have alot of ....time....Maybe I could get some feedback on that...I don't want to offend her...I am not judging her house just offering my services....we don't have much more of a relationship than just neighbors..so what do you think? would that be more offensive than comforting? It doesn't have to be clean the house....but I must admit that is what I was thinking.....

3 kids under 4! I thought 3 under 6 was bad enough. You have described my house then...not much better now when the grandson's come round. It's so good of you to think of your young neighbour with life as it is. It's difficult knowing how she will react. I think I would have been sensitive if someone had offered to clean and tidy for me but perhaps you could say it like you wrote it, that you remember well struggling with young children after a c section and would like to help her if she would like it. Once she gets to know you more she may feel more comfortable with you tidying up but she may be OK now. How are you with ironing? I hate it and don't do much but friends have offered to do mine for me. I've declined the offer as I don't need much ironed but I know some who iron everything so if she is one of those, she may be grateful it you offer to do that.

You can only offer and see what she says.

Your pumpkin bread sounds interesting. I have made a few lovely loaves but have also had disasters that even the birds turned their beaks up at in disgust.

Please keep us posted. I'd like to hear how you get on.

Yep, John just turned 29, James soon to be 28 (15 months apart) and Celi soon to be 26... she actually turns 26 three days before her brother has his birthday! that means at one point one kid will be 29 the other will be 27, the other 26...for three days hahah Oh Nannab, yah I would have been devastated if someone had asked me if I needed help cleaning......But I will still offer up my time in a greeting card.....and ironing I think you know my belief in that long ago activity! Actually , when I was working I did iron my slacks and shirt if needed...Now I wear nothin but blends baby!

Funny story how I got all three kids at once.....still in college when I got married....got on the pill a year after our nuptials, a few months later got pregnant...surprise!!! had a baby......6 months , later suprise!!, "what you mean I'm pregnant? I have a baby..." 3 months after that baby...Huh?...are you sure!!! I'm not even sure if suprise is my feeling anymore.... I got off those pills and never had another baby! Lessons learned...right?..Lol

I thank God daily (as we all do for our children) for my wonderful children ...Why He gave them to us all at once....well He's got his plansss I'm just trying to live them @...@ hahah

Well about the quick bread debaucle I guees I am happy that yours did not turn out as either......I must say, the dog seems to enjoy it so I have one fan....lol

Our third was born 6 weeks before the middle ones 2nd birthday so this year we had a 36 and a 37 year old. Were any of yours in the same school year? My neighbour had a baby within days of me giving birth. We would meet in each other's houses as we took turns in taking our oldest to school while the other had the two babies. One day we were both breast feeding our babies after the school run and she said,"I've been told you don't get pregnant while breast feeding". I said I wouldn't risk it as I think it is possible. She said, "I wish you'd told me before, I'm pregnant again". She then burst into tears. Our babies weren't 3 months old. She had three girls, we had three boys. For many years they all played together, making a gap in the hedge so the gardens became one. When the oldest were about 10 she said she if they were still friends in a year or so she was going to grind the pill with the sugar on her daughters cornflakes and if any of them married, just because she had all the girls, we weren't going to get out of paying for the wedding. The kids friendships faded however and they all married different people. They moved away the same day our eldest son left at the start of his 10 years of travelling. A very traumatic time but I still regularly have lunch with our old neighbours and our son eventually returned to the UK.

Memories!

Wow a strange bout of empty nest when part of that nest included the neighbors kids...and their mom.....Yah I think I was just spilling out eggs at that time of life...we were married for two years (6/6/85) before the population increase (9/7/87...) and forever after...plenty of other opportunities.....but those years were THE years for us....I could not breast feed so I did not have that to back me up...Hey I could not even use the pill! So those kids were bound and determined to be born!!! hahaa

Our neighborhood today is doing much what you and your neighbor did some 30 years ago....young families are moving in, kids are melding together, babies are being born...we have two new borns on my side of the down street from each other....and I love it...I love the sound of kids voices....and to see them outside...they do not go in til dark....can't testify for their homework...but at least they are not just sitting playing video games...

If you ever wanted to see one of my sons, you had to look up, He was usually in a tree somewhere....(jungle boy) now he's a landscape Architect....The oldest never left the video game....argh...Now he's a financier...and my daughter is a self made person with ambition and social activities...IN FACT Bev, she is traveling to England....South part...to meet a young man she met over here....He is an architect... student or just graduated...works at Hooke Park....Does anyone know where that is?

sort of stopped abrubptly that last long post,,,, but I am rather anxious...They met here at the University, he's Canadian but works at the park with other students.....quite a sight what they do with wood! I am rather nervous about her going over there...However I would have done same thing,,,,and did when I was her age...hitchhiked the country , All across the east coast...Now I'm the mom.....

Nervous in America,

Hooke Park is in Dorset, in the South West, nearer to Georgepa than us in the South East. If she does venture to the east, let me know and I'll give her our address in case she fancies a cuppa on her travels. Our eldest was 19 when he started travelling and it was very worrying as we didn't have the Internet and he didn't have a mobile phone so I wrote our home phone number on the labels of all his under pants in waterproof pen, just in case he was found unconscious or worse. He was 29 when he eventually came back to live in the U.K. We were so relieved when he and his now wife came home. The weather has just turned colder so it's a shame your daughter didn't come a couple of months earlier but the Autumn/fall colours will be good.....not as good as Boston though I've heard. I'm sure she will have a great time, it's just a pity us parents left behind can't switch off and not worry. That's parenting AVB isn't it? Time goes so quickly, she will soon be home, hopefully sooner than 10 years.

Yes a very busy summer...she quit her regular paying job to start her own business in the same field....she has clients and meetings and people to talk to and she even rents her house on the weekends to air bnb! She got herself a motor bike; broke up with previous boyfriend and is in graceful(?) persuit of this other man....We hardly see her and when we do it's good if we walk around issues...well GeorgePa, if you hear anyone ie an American girl missing in the forrests of Hooke,.....Oh god! She leaves tomorrow amd O think I am too late to mark her underwear so I will have to keep praying that she will spend her inordinate amount of time there , having a good time! Oct. 8-23!!!! I do hope she has other plans...she is right across thewater (?) from France and right up the aisle for Netherlands....and of course all of England is at her beckoning!!!!I wish I could go with her.....

We used to go places spend the night hit a concert....so we are used to travelling together...

Ok I better take another Klonopin....
