Shortness of breath

Joe is mobile and gets around on his own with no assistance. He was diagnosed with CBD in 2014.

This morning and yesterday he complained about not being able to breathe. ???

Is this the start of that swallowing issue I dread??

Any info appreciated. His speech as been on a steady decline.

Thanks.

Does he have a chest infection, or pneumonia? I would get that checked out first of all. My man did not have sudden trouble breathing, though he did suffer from asthma for years before any CBD diagnosis.

What did happen suddenly was that he could not hold himself upright when sitting, and that was most difficult to handle and probably lead to his getting pneumonia.

So the breathing difficulty may be a result of CBD. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful.

If you get him checked out they will be able to check his oxygen levels and iron too and may find an answer. Take all your info on CBD and ask for a CBD neurology specialist if the rest of them are "thick"! Tell them it is not Parkinson's! AND BE INSISTENT YOU GET RIGHT SORT OF DOCTOR!!!! Seems to be the same the world over!

Lots of hugs. Hope you get an answer quickly.

Thanks Jen. I will take your advice and get him up to Cornell here in NYC as he is due to go for a visit soon.

They made the diagnosis and are very good but have few CBD patients.

Will keep you posted.

See in a past post you mention pernicious anemia. Am no medic but wonder how much low iron affects breathing. I remember when I had pneumonia after a chill that my blood oxygen went way down and it was hard to breathe. My blood was also very dark.

Good that Cornell is onto CBD. Our lot here are not sure what it is!

Thinking of you both.

I don't think the breathing and the swallowing are likely to be related as you fear, for what it's worth. I hope you get good advice soon. Let us know what you discover. Peace, ec

My husband has swallowing issues but it does not affect his breathing....however he has PSP. I think Honjen was correct in the thought of infection.....time for the doctor?

Good luck.

Good luck, Rita,

My husband has CBD but hasn't had a shortness of breath.

He was diagnosed in 2013. He hasn't been mobile for quite a while now and I am always looking for signs of the coughing and even shortness of breath, although I have read or was told that not everyone with CBD will suffer these episodes.

Best wishes, hope you get it sorted out
