Hi everyone ,

So after my 4th nurse crutchit drainage on my hubby , he asked how long will we have to use the catheter for , I told him prob for the rest of your life . He said bollocks no way . I don't think he realises how it's going to b . So we had our first cranky attack , said its ok for you sounding so chirpy all the time . If only he knew the tears I shed . πŸ˜ͺ

But hey today another day suns out and he in the garden just enjoying the peace and quiet .

A little story to brighten your days ( it brightens mine and have a giggle to myself )

A few years ago ( before psp joined our life ) our friend was getting married , and so that her family and his family and friends could meet before the wedding they decided to hold a BBQ the weekend before the big day . So a warm Easter Day held in the back garden a BBQ for friends and family . The wine and food great , afternoon turns into evening by this time the nights getting quite cool . So bonfire made in firepit and the few stragglers stay huddled around fire . Boys around fire , girls inside drinking wine stiffing ourselves with desserts yum o .

Gets to b around 9pm we all getting tired , fires nearly out , blokes shuffling their feet to keep warm . So I approach hubby from his back snuggle up to his arm , " come on darling lets go home " I say . No answer ( think he not ready to go home yet )

" come on let's go , I promise you I'll keep you warm show you a good time lets go home to bed" . A voice says " your place or mine " ... What the .... Not my hubby I'm whispering sweet nothings to , so embarrassed , all the other group had seen what was going on even my husband they all having a quite laugh to themselves . I was so embarrassed , what colour is red !!!

The wedding day came and what a beautiful day it was , the sun shone , they were married in the local park , wonderful reception like a huge party we did have fun , the guy I snuggled up to came over for a chat and we had a big laugh , he said I could report for your sexual harassment , he's a local cop !!!

Fun fun fun xx Chris

Ahh!. My stomach is churning at a similar experience. I was so embarrassed, I've never even told C. I can laugh at your story though. I was so relieved when the man whose buttocks I squeezed moved away from next door, but quite a long time after so my suffering lasted a long time.

Sorry your poor hubby can't cope with the catheter but when he feels what happens without it, he may change his mind.

Have a good day in the sunshine. It's sunny here but not warm enough for C to sit outside

Hi NannaB

I had a friend whose was having trouble with her car , so her hubby told her to get a ride into shops with the neighbour which she did . Came home to find hubby laying under car fixing whatever , she decided to run her fingers up the inside of his shorts , give a little tickle ! Wrong man , was the neighbour from next door came to gave her hubby a hand with the car !!

Don't know about you but I'd recognise my mans legs anywhere , just nighttime when it's dark around a bonfire that I get confused !! Just have laugh hey . πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Chris xx

I've been thinking about my embarrassment and have decided it's about time I got over it so I'll tell you (only you of course, keep it a secret).

Before mobile phones, someone phoned our landline to say they couldn't get in touch with a neighbour so would I go across the road and ask her to ring them. It was dark and as I opened the front door, noticed our car lights were on. I told C to turn them off as I'd never driven his company car and didn't know where the switch was. I had a bit of a chat to my neighbour and returned home to find C in the porch, the car lights off. I went behind him, grabbed his buttocks and made a very improper suggestion. I was pushing him against the front door expecting it to open. It was our next door neighbour. He was the same height as C and it was dark and I was pleasantly surprised that C must have put after shave on as he smelt so nice. The poor man turned round so quickly, knocking me out of the porch and down the steps. He was a very shy man and stuttered that he wanted to see C about something. I apologised, probably more than I needed to really, composed myself and rang the doorbell as I didn't have a key. Until now, the incident has never been spoken about. I didn't tell C as I knew he would be embarrassed for me and didn't want it to spoil the relationship he had with our neighbours. This chaps wife was someone who always felt other women were after him and visa versa so knew it would cause trouble. We avoided each other for ages after, well I avoided him. Several years later they divorced and another man moved in. I wouldn't have made the same mistake though, he was only a bit taller than me.

Phew! I've confessed and feel much better.

Oh, what a secret to carry all those years !

Glad you've got it off your chest.

Maybe the neighbour was right to think they were all after him.

It made me laugh though. I would probably have got the giggles every time I saw him.

Hi, my hubby David is using the Sheath catheter so not as invasive and gives him a bit more dignity there are also less chances of infection. He has a leg bag for day time and a night bag which is a godsend once you get used to not having to get up perhaps ask the continence nurse about the alternative catheters.

G only has a intermittent catheter at moment so drains out straight away , so doesn't have to keep it on , he's ok really having it done , he's just feeling down at moment xxchris

I thought your punch line was going to be, it was the bridegroom!!! Still, very funny story. Oh to be back, in those " carefree times". If only we knew what was around the corner, so we might have made a few more memories, to get us through these dark days!!!

Lots of love

Heady

Ps, hope hubby gets use to this catheter! Perhaps you should remind him what the alternative is occasionally!!!

Lovely story - giggle has set me up for the day!!! My hubby not at the stage of requiring

catheters yet but had to persuade him to use bottles during the night as he was up at least 3 times and we needed to reduce the risks of falls - it took some doing but I finally

came up with a good reason for him to use them - I needed the pee to sprinkle around the garden to deter the foxes and cats!!!

Regards to all....Lizxxxx

Lovely idea, but PLEASE be careful. If your hubby anything like S, then he will try and do that for you. Unfortunately, most, if not all, will be on the carpet, before you realise!!!

Why didn't I think of that when trying to get C to use a bottle. He did eventually but on several occasions, kept it on the floor in the bedroom and aimed at it while standing up.πŸ’¦

When I worked at a play group, I took a 3 year old to the child's toilet, helped him pull down his trousers and turned him round to face the oiler pan. He then said, " My mummy makes daddy sit down cos his willy is too small to reach the toilet and he splashes". On the occasions his dad collected him I could only think of one thing...one little thing.

I worked in childcare for 21years before retiring , the things the children told us about their mums and dads was ummmm !! We once received a bag of second hand clothes from one parent , we were sorting them out and there was a huge , and I mean HUGE pair if men's underpants that one carer held up , we couldn't look that dad in the eye after that . The scenarios we played up with those , being a girl yourself NannaB you could well imagine 😜Xxchris

Okay your story is hilarious!! Thanks for sharing!

My husband used to ask me similar questions about how long before he gets better, etc. Very disheartening for him and me. You just do the best you can and have your cries when you need them. I do not think it is a bad thing to cry in front of him, although I only have a couple times. I also don't think it is necessary, in my case, to be completely upbeat all the time. I tried that at first and I believe it gave my husband a false sense of improvement, a distorted view of the situation. I try to be myself, be happy, makes jokes for him, watch our shows together, etc. But I also let him know that I am sad about all of this and it is not going to get better, only worse.

That is just my way. I'm not trying to say everyone should do what I do. It just is what works for us.

I cry in front of S. Not sure he even notices anymore! I'm sure, he thinks what I am doing is just normal behaviour. I have to be really upset to get any sort of reaction!

I certainly don't try to protect him, about my feelings. If his actions upset or hurt me, he gets it, with both barrels. After all, we all know, that inside, they are the same person and can understand what is going on, so why shouldn't he KNOW that his actions are upsetting me!!!

Just so you all know, I can be nice occasionally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of love
